Default Solo Flight North Pakistan 2011 - Biking, Hiking, Hitchhiking, Jeep Safari & NATCO

Alhamdullillah, I have completed my North Trip alone. 16.07.2011 to 30.07.2011 alone. Joined 4 groups in way. Enjoyed a lot. Earned friends and memories.

I have travalled from Multan to Mansehra in Shalimar AC Coach with bike loaded on top.

From Mansehra I have started my biking trip to Naran and Jalkhad, Chilas, Gilgit. Then visited Hunza Duikar (Eagle Nest), Karimabad and Ataabad Lake.

On return from Hunza I have visited Naltar lake on bike alone.

After return to Gilgit from Naltar, I parked my bike in Jamal Hotel and set off via NATCO to Skardu. From Skardu visited Sadpara Deosai, Chillam and Astore.

From Astore I went Raikot, visited fairy meadow and returned back to Gilgit. From Gilgit visited Yaseen Valley. From Yaseen returned back to Gilgit. and there on Public Transport Coaster returned to Rawalpindi.

From Rawalpindi I have visited Nathia Gali and back to Pindi. From Pindi via Skyways started Journey to Home (Multan)

    Thanks

    Some other observations:
Police is good. You can take help/guidance freely. If you waiting for PT, you must be at some Police Chowki.

    Recommended Family Destination:
The recommended family destinations are Hunza and Naran. Other places have long travelling, hectic etc other problems.

    Transport Timings:
If you going on PT (Public Transport), remembers, for most of the areas, the PT ply very early in morning and even in afternoon you don't have any option for PT for smaller areas.

    Max Trip Duration:
Max trip duration should be 10 days, after that, you will feel home sickness and boredum. and things don't remain beautiful....

    Mosquetto:
    Prepare for the mosquetto

i am interested in knowing the details of ur slip on FM track? what actually happened? v were with family, ladies and kids, as small as 5 years, and most of them did this track on foot, and almost independently, and my view is that FM track is easier than meeran jani or mukshpuri, its lenghty though, but its a proper track, all the way to FM top..........

Though Alhamdullillah, I didn't slipped.. But i was about to slip due to gravel on the trek. (One feet wide trek with gravel and inclined)

The descend from Fairy meadow is very dangerous and friends hold me on some of the portion of this descend.

I further inquired from Tatto and Raikot,, they told that a lot of people complained abt dangrous trek. (FM to tattu).

I did touba from any trekking after this trek...

Natural beauty is though beauty, but life is much more beautiful.. so prefer your life. Though FM is beautiful but not more than ones life.

There a lot of incident of slipping of horses cows on this trek. My friends have seen the dead bodies of died animals.

Even a PW member, horse slipped down with lugguge.

Nanga parbat dekhni hogi tou jaglot say hi dekh loon ga.... Naltar is very beautiful as compare to fairy meadow.

Fairy meadow ka logun nay kuch ziada hi hawwa banaya huwa ha...

From underconstruction bridge to FM, it is 4000+feet hike. 5 hour. Its double than the meeran jani. Meeran Jani is somewhat 2000+feet hike.

Might be in last year rains, the trek got damaged and the current trek is narrower one after reconstruction.

    When you did this trek???

RANA SB is rite to some extent , on same places the trek got very narrow but if u trek carefully for initially 1-2 hours then it becomes safe , I myself saw a pony in da deep lying dead the locals said that the pony was not well and slipped off , but i doubt coz at that place it was very narrow ....
but one have to take risks to enjoy ,,, n above all us waqt ALLAH ki Greatness and insaan ki baybasee ka andaza hota hai

What is your overall experience about this trip?

    1) Decision to go alone.
    2) Decision to go on bike.
    3) Cost factor .
    4) Bike performance and total fuel cost.
    5) Luggage you carry with.
    6) Tool kit for your bike.
    7) Availablity of Public transport.

Sir jee... actually in last year flood the trek got much damaged... and now its a narrow trek in some portion. It was really scary and dangerous.

I have missed Bayal due to scary trek but have seen fantoori and fairy meadow lake. And due to landslide in the way. one have to trek extra one hour upto Tatto Jhail Fairy Point Hotel (Jeep Stop)

Actually I was comparing in terms of hike or hectic-ness of trek.

    Thanks.
