Default Bike Trip to Head Balloki + Rana Resorts [Completed]

    -- THREAD COMPLETED --

Today, on 20th March 2014, I completed a bike trip from Lahore to Head Balloki + Rana Resorts. I am in Lahore since last week and squeezed a day free for this bike trip.

I was with a friend, a fellow PWer @smartsyco We had been planning for a bike trip since my last couple of visits to Lahore but nothing could be finalized before. But this time, it was a success.

The ride was Honda CD70. Camera used is a Canon P&S.

Here are few pictures as a teaser, detailed narrations with pictures are coming soon.

As we continued on Balloki road, we saw a truck that was overturned. I don't know how it happened but it was destructive. Soon after a couple of kilometers on Balloki Road, there are many fish stalls. By many I mean so many, they were like 10+ all selling fried fish. These stalls are indication that Head Balloki is near and sure it was. The road lead to Head Balloki where huge construction work was going on and the road was damaged. Anyway we passed the bad section. Took couple of pictures of water rushing through the head and then moved ahead..

Few hundred meters ahead of Head Balloki, there is a board pointing towards right and here comes Rana Resort. We paid 20 Rs for bike parking fee. There were many private cars and few coasters with banners of some university were also parked. After parking, we moved ahead to purchase tickets...

    Nice trip mate

    great going.....

After reading your thread it struck me Police all over Pakistan is the same and they needlessly create hassls for the travelling public....on our trips we are stopped numerous times and I for one love negotiating with the Police....however, I might add that Motorway Police is the best in all respects.....

We reached the ticket counter and purchased two tickets at Rs.120 each. Outside the ticket booth, it is written that Sunday is just family day. However, there was another banner inside which told that "Single Mard" hazraat can also get in on weekends if they pay Rs.300. It was kind of exploitation but I'm sure "poond hazraat" won't mind this high fee even.

After getting the tickets we entered the park. At the entry, there are many board which claimed to be one of the largest private parks in the world. Also there were many threats to anyone who is caught "poondifying".

There was a restaurant which claimed to be the "Expensive restaurant". I was wondering who on earth would call their restaurant expensive. Anyway, after brief look to the surroundings, we moved ahead.

Thanks bro. Keep reading this thread, I'm updating as fast as I can.

Yes the police do create hassle. And it seems they don't even care about law, they just care about some bribe. I have also mastered the art of negotiations so ab inki tension nahi leta

We were greeted by a pond type of canal which had still water and it was totally green probably because of moss or something similar. Although it was stinking, but it did look good for the camera. A little ahead, there was a camel sitting which is used for camel rides. There is a small amusement park also. As soon as the play area finish, there is a clearly marked trail which is going deeper in the park. We started to follow it.

Besides the trail, there was a pond in which there were ducks and flamingos. Fed them very little Wavy chips because I was hungry myself Further, there were more cages. One of them was for Budgerigars, the other was for Indian Ringneck Parakeets, the next was of Golden Buff chicken & a single Lady Amerest pheasant, and the last cage had an eagle. That poor eagle was trapped by these guys when it was "hunting rabbits" from Rana Hunting Resort.. kinda irony?

There were many bamboo suspension bridges besides the trail. We took pictures on a couple of these. They were really slippery though (because of the nature of bamboo) so one wrong step or a slip could lead one to dirty pools. Thankfully, nothing bad happened with us.

This trail lead us to a clearing and we could spot a huge rush and noise before that clearing. It was an area with many shops like tea stalls, cold drinks, snacks, french fries etc. The college group were at this place having fun. It was a very large group, must be 150+. The boys and girls were having fun and I had a flashback to my university days when we used to have similar gathering. The group was hiring donkey carts and bicycles for venturing in the jungle trail. We didn't try to use our paparazzi skills on this group and left them in peace

In the clearing area, they have kept ostriches and nilgai. We again sacrificed some of our biscuits for these hungry ostriches. But soon I spotted "barseen" and fed them barseen for free It was fun. There were ostrich eggs also placed inside the room.

After ostriches, we decided to have some french fries with cold drinks. The fries were not bad. While we were eating the fries, the college group had advanced and suddenly the environment was totally noise free. We took a couple of pictures of the surroundings of this area..

I am not sure what type it is. For a common person like me, eagle, kite, baaz, uqaab, shikra etc are same things Need to research a bit on this one.
