Default WAFT Adventure Club : Jhal Khad Trip 2008

    AOA Friends
This time i am sharing WAC Jhalkhad trip.
A total of six members went along.

    Aamir on CG 125
    Imran on CG 125 Delux
    Shehzad on imran Delux
    Kashif on CD 100
    Mansoor on Amir CG 125
    &
    me on CG 125 orange

Our plan was to reach as far as possible on Naran - Chilas road but could not reach much farther than Jhal khad due unfavourable weather. It was raining a lot and senior guys decided to cut short the trip as the amateurs may get ill. We chose the route via Muzaffarabad and started from Rawalpindi. We had our four permanent members along us, who are always willing to go on trip but at the same time we try to lure many others.

Many friends of us assure us that they are willing but when the actual time comes most of them back off giving one reason or other. two non adventurists joined us this time Shehzad and Mansoor.
Following are some of the trade mark pictures taken by my mobile camera

We started from Rawalpindi. The night before the journey we all gathered in Amir's house.
Final touches to the trip were given. People deposited their pre-calculated amount with Mr President. I think that was Rs 3500/- Which included, hoteling and Petrol of all the bikes.
And i tell you that when we were returning still President returned Rs 100 to eery body. What so ever was done was done collectively. Wherever tea was required, all had to take. All this was recorded and spent accordingly.

There are some basics of trip preparations.

Map/Route Planning :-I was he map adviser and i usually take help from internet or PTDC maps or guidance from Lonely Planet books i have got or from Survey of Pakistan. No body asks till where we are going, from which place we will pass and when we will reach.

A general location is given to every body before hand and the night before departure every body is told what will be our plan. Where we will stop and for how long we have to be at that place.

Juniours are guided about how to behave. Whenever or wherever we stay for night how they will move out. Every body knows what they have to carry.

Driving Disipline is the most important thing. What should be the average bike to bike distance. In our case it was not more than 200 meters but exceeded when we had the other bikers in our vision or eyes That distance should not be exceeded in any case. The most safe driver or the senior fellow is to be at the back. This is very important. The positions of the bikers are to be pre designated and not to be violated. I usually drove at the lastWith an eye on everybody in front. As i drove at the last so i was given the responsibility of carrying the tools bag. Which we in our bikers language called Tool Plaza.

Used the newly underconstruction Murree Expressway. We stopped beneath Murree. To have our first short stop.

Then came a small accident. Once we crossed Sehar Bagla after Lower Topa on main Muzaffarabad road. A local chap over taked us in a rash manner. All of us ignored that except the Club President. He opened speed and started contesting him.
And that happened which was expected. On one sharp turn the local boy managed to turn however Mr President ka takhta ulat gaya. Thanks God, The bike didnot go down. It became out of control but remained on road.
In the above pic Shahzad is showing the scratch marks on road

The lone cement Corner Stone which stopped the bike from going down.

Not much damage was done except tilted foot rest and bruised handle and foot rest grip. The speed cable and the engine tapa were intact.

This was my bike traveling bag. These were two bags of same size joined by a leather strap. The leather strap was a little bigger, so the bag touched the silencer. And got heated from below. It had to be rectified. A cobbler on main road helped me stitch this.

Now we are about to reach Kohala. Its a good recreation point if you want to stay for a couple of hours. One can have Chicken Karahi while dipping his feet in cold River Jhelum waters.
Right turn on bridge and you are in Kashmir area.
