Default WAFT Adventure Club : Long Trip Accessories

There are many threads mentioning the future plans who want to visit North in June , July.
Some of them are old but many are new. So I decided to make an effort to streamline the accessories required by bikers to conduct a long trip. Many of you have undergone long trips and at one place or other you must have felt the requirement of having some specific thing or item with you but not available. So you should narrate that event and give details of that item.

I have read in some other forums about the things bikers should carry especially who are also camping I would like to make it more realistic, with medicines, tool kit and bike accessories included in it. If something could be added in it it would be helpful. Remember an ideal biker has to carry all these things on his bike as well. if the no pillion rider is available.

I will sum it up in the end or will keep on editing the things as and when known.

The first thing is how to manage the baggage. You have your own luggage and the accessories available with you. Where to put all this. I have seen many riders having done it with ordinary travel bags tied with ropes behind the bike or to the rear of driver.

My previous three trips were with the same dillema. the bags used to get slipped after every three to four kilometers. Stop the bike tie them and move again.
This is what we did in 2003 going to Saif Ul Maluk Lake

Then i found a solution. basic idea was taken from the akhbar walas design. I searched the net and found a design. Then i went to a bag maker and gave him the design. He calculated & told me the quantity of Tarpaal and raxeen required. finally the thing was made. I will give detailed pictures. However it looked something like this. Bags on both sides, One tool kit bag. and one small accessories bag to be tied on handle bar.

Both bags looked like this , if not on the bike. They were made kept in mind the CG 125 requirements. I had it then. Now i have Delux 2013 and not yet tried on it. Both bags were joined by a leather strap.

Both bags had a triple safety system for items inside. One the zip then the vulcro and finally the clips. Each bag had three pockets, 02 in front for smaller items, and 01 on side for big 2 litre pepsi bottle, for drinking water.

To safe guard from rain these bags were stitched inside by good quality raccine. So that water does not seeps in.

This was my tools bag. some old tools still lying in it. It was good help as ordinary bags could not bear the weight of tools and just can collapse midway. This bag was tied behind the bike as no other option was available.

For tools Imran had his own work shop, so the tools were no problem. However, for extra items we made deal with a local motorbike spare parts dealer. The first time we went he was impressed by our adventure. He gave us all what we required without hesitation on the plea that whatsoever we spent we will use, rest we will return back and take our money.

I dont know how to explain makhi, but it is used to make a knot at the end of broken speed or cluth cable. A very useful thing.
