Mission Accomplished Visited Swat Valley on the same dates till Kalam. I will share the details as soon as possible.
A Unique thing. This white portion in the picture is a canal. This place is from where it comes out of the hills. It was constructed by British. The canal starts from the other side of the hills, then after climbing some portion of the hills, it enters a tunnel, and here is the place from where it comes out. I may not possess the complete knowledge about it. This is what i heard. if some body from this area can throw light on it. It would be better. watt plant.
I am from this area, this canal is not constructed by the British, it is constructed recently, the main tunnel through which the water flow out of mountain is constructed by the British. A hydro power plant was constructed by the british which was upgraded recently by 81 Mega watt.
This post i encountered just on the way to Mingora. I zoomed the camera. Th words say Churchill piquet. Probably Winston Churchill served here. I know there is another post in Tribal areas probably in Wana or Miranshah which is also named Churchill post. Whats the resemblance between them both i have no idea. Any historian reading can guide me.
It is the place where Churchill serve the two districts, from this place one can control the Distt Dir, and District Swat, Malakand Agency is also adjacent here, in fact you have taken the picture of DIR standing in Malakand Agency.
He wrote hundred plus books in his life, his first book was "the People of Malakand", and one of the book is "The Malakand field force" you can find the books on amazon.com
Thanks brother Horse_rider.
It was nice that u elaborated the randomly taken pics. we had to complete the trip in 2 and half days. So most of the pics are taken while sitting on the bike. There was actually no time to stop inquire and note down the details of the locations where we took pics.
and also after 3 months most minute details are forgotten or intermingled.
you created an excellent thread.
And shared beautifully taken pictures of scenes around you.
I want to know one thing. Is road to sawat very scenic?
And this is reminding me of a film with the name of 'road to sawat' which I saw when i was a kid
I Have not seen the movie. But now i will try to find it. The road to swat is scenic. As compared with other beautiful valleys it offers more places to visit. It is more populated and the scenery gets beautiful as you move ahead. However in the case of Kaghan & Naran when you travel farther mountains start to get barren and houses and population scarce.
It is Batkhela, you are at Hameed cold drinks, It is their branch No.1, their second branch is near Daewoo bus terminal in Batkhela.
I want to share it is really nice that once you are in the heat of travelling a single glass of fresh cold water gives such pleasure that the ones who has not gone through this, cant imagine.
And this was a very good and well set cold drinks shop, with a variety of drinks available. SEEMED like were in middle of Lahore or Gujranwala.
Finally we reached Madyan. It is a small town located on the Bank of River swat. 10 years ago we stayed here. in Hotel Muslim Palace. But this time while passing by i could not find the hotel, Probably razed due floods.
