Exclamation The wind, bike & heart; Tour de KPK

Its all about the freedom of life on the road, a personal adventure that leads a biker to the KPK province of Pakistan. KPK is known as the land of hospitality. This adventure started with passion, hope, fear of unseen and ended giving experiences & memories of good times to be recalled. It also helped me discover myself and taught me lessons to be remembered.

@Libra was expected to arrive in Karimabad those days. I was expecting that if he comes tomorrow meet him and have some words of wisdom from him. Texted Hanif Bhai if he is coming and he said after couple of days inshallah. So I texted back: Hanif Bhai would meet you sometime later somewhere else inshallah.
In evening went to Karimabad Inn and asked Syed Hussian Shah to please make some spicy daal for me as I haven't had spicy food from so many days. He is kind enough that he use to add some spicy masalas in meals for me whenever I go to him. I can't live without spicy food for many days and thats the only drawback of Northern areas to me that you do not find some spicy food there.
Eaten dinner, drank tee and went back hotel room.
    End Day-8.

    Thanks for your encouraging words
Swat was not in my list this year. Explored some areas of Swat in 2010 and in 2012. Moreover I don't like tourism under the shade of guns( whether the armed persons are civilians or law enforcement agencies).

After crossing Jaglot, bike got developed some electrical fault and it switched off automatically. This area is known for its extremely high temperatures during summers and you even don't find a tree to sit beneath it. Removed my helmet and wore a cap to avoid direct impact of sunlight. Uptill now my tour was trouble free but now trouble has arrived. And in these times one have to control his nerves. The more you panic, the more chances of getting deeper into trouble. I parked the bike in a safer roadside area to avoid becoming trouble to flow of traffic and started thinking on possibilities. Some trucks passed by but they didn't stop, infact they couldn't because the area was so much conjusted: mountain on one side of road and river on the other side. I started gambling with the electrics of my bike. Checked the battery terminals, different clamps etc. Then i recalled that there used to be a black wire with white line in head lamp housing which electrician used to unplug in order to bypass the switch function. I unscrewed the head lamp housing but wasn't able to find that particular wire. I then checked main wires coming from beneath the tank and going to switch and head lamp housing and when i little pushed a wire going to switch, neutral light indicator on my bike'e meter turned ON. I started the bike and continued the journey. At thalechi near Nanga Parbat View point it again loosen current but got started again by pressing the switch wire.

It got dark after crossing Malakandi. After crossing Kiwai, bike again stopped due to same switch fault. A Suzuki Ravi pickup was passing by, they stopped and asked that is everything OK? I told them that my bike is giving some electric problem and I hope that I can temporarily resolve the issue with the "Jugar" as I did before. I did the little magic as before and it got started again. Pickup guys said that you go ahead and we are coming behind you incase you need any help. Clouds were thundering on sky and when Balakot was 20km and Mansehra was 60km away, it stopped again. No jugar was working this time and despite all my efforts it refused to turn on. Meanwhile pickup guys approached, I waved them to stop. I told them that my bike is not starting this time. I ask them that how much will they charge if they carry me and my bike till Mansehra. They said that they are natives of Mansehra and they are going back after visiting their relatives in Kiwai so they will charge me nominal Rs.1000 and if I have asked some one else they would have demanded 2-3k. I agreed and loaded my bike in the luggage compartment of pick up, tied it up with ropes. Putted my lauggage, helmet, gloves etc on floor of pickup and sat beside it. By that time it has started drizzling little. When rain started pouring heavily they offered me to sit in cabin with them. They were relatives/friends. One's name was Yousaf and other's I forgotten.
They said" kidhron aa rahey hu na gee". I replied"Gilgit".
They: "Tusi Punjab de log pata ni ki khanney hu, kafi motey honey hu na gee". Me "bus ki kareye". Actually it got conjusted in cabin with presence of 3rd person of 6'1" height and they couldn't have ask me to go back to back compartment as it was raining heavily.
They: "Tusi Lahore ne hu". Me: "nahin Mutan na".
They:"Allah de bundio inna lamba safar kerney hu koi motorcycle tey acha rakho na gee" Me: "gee bus Mansehra pohanchiey ajay tay"
I then shifted to back compartment when rain slowed down. I called a friend in Mansehra, told him situation and asked for help. He said that he would get free after Taraweeh prayer around 10pm and told me a location where I have to come. I conveyed that location to pickup guys. When we reached Mansehra it was almot 10:30Pm and my friend was waiting. Unloaded the bike, payed the pickup guys and thanked them for stopping by in the time of need. Then my friend telephoned a mechanic friend and he said that he would come in half hour. Meanwhile we went to a cafe, drank tea and started waiting for mechanic. He came almost after an hour and took us to his shop nearby. He opened his shop in that late night hours and resolved the issue within half an hour by directing/bypassing the switch. He said that my bike's switch is faulty and I should replace it after reaching home. After the problem was rectified, I was in a mood to continue the journey towards Pindi but my friend said that you shouldn't go in that late hours in pouring rain. He took me to his home and brought fruits, tea and pakoras. He told that his elder brother is coming from Umrah next morning and his flight would land around 7:15AM at Islamabad airport, so he would go around 4am to pick him up from Islamabad Airport. He said that I should sleep and he would wake me up around 3:30AM. It was already 1:30AM, so i retired on bed and had a nap of couple of hours untill he woke me up. Around 4AM I departed from Mansehra and continued my journey towards Rwp/Isl. Near Haripur it started raining again and I took shelter under shade of a CNG station. When rain slowed down started off my journey again towards Hattar, Taxila and near Hattar it again started pouring heavily but this time I didn't stop. When I reach Taxila it was raining cats & dogs. But i kept riding towards Pindi. All my clothes and luggage bags were wet and there seemed a flood of water on GT Road but all my concentration was to reach pindi and take a hotel. Tried a hotel on Pirwadhai More but it was closed. Then I went to GPO chowk and eventually to Murree road to take some hotel near Moti Mahal/Committee Chowk. Many hotels were closed due to next day being Eid. One hotel guy given me room till 1PM.

    Day-10:
It was almost 8:30AM when I reached at hotel. Had little nap and checked out at 1PM and started my journey again towards Tarnol. Went on Fateh Jang road and after crossing Qutbal toll plaza there comes Shahpur dam 10km short of Fateh Jung. I decided to explore it a little.
