Lightmare: Are you using HID's in your headlights? Please don't do it

This morning while driving to work, I was followed by a Ford 150. I was completely blinded ( reduced my speed from 50-10mph within seconds) due to his 8000K HID in reflector housing. See below images which I took from my phone in rear view mirror. Human eye is more sensitive and effected by any light than a camera lens. You can see my rear view mirror how difficult it can be for someone coming on front. Please Dont make people blind at oncoming traffic or people driving in front of you. Since HID kits got so cheaper people have gone to such a STUPIDITY level that I have seen here as well as in Pakistan, tendency to put the kits in high beam as well. Here in USA you can be pulled over easily and given citation so people are little careful. But In Pakistan I have seen and noticed on this forum as well that people use HID in high and low beams reflector housing and feel proud about it " bohat zeeyada light hay" . If you dont care about yourself then you have no right to make life of people on the road in danger. I would say this is like a moving weapon ready to kill anyone.

Halogen reflectors are designed for halogen bulbs. Once you have switched to the HID bulb.. you have changed the focal point of the headlight. The light will scatter from the headlight and not be focused on to the ground thus creating a scattered pattern in different direction. Most of the times the light scattered to such an extent that a person standing or driving even at 20 degree angle from headlight with HID will get blinded. Even a millimeter difference in the placement of even a halogen bulb creates a scattered pattern. That is the reason every halogen housing are designed for a specific bulb size and type. Unless your car is equipped with projectors that too original not cheap fancy looking after market.. Please don?t use HID?s. Don?t ruin life of anyone on the road because ? yeh road sab ki hay kissay aik kay baap ki nahi?.
If you do so and someone get hurt or killed just because of your few thousand rupee HID.. I have no doubt in saying that you are culprit and involved in manslaughter and you have no value for life. Just have some sense.

The images are in my rear view/ Just Imagine what it will look like to oncoming driver. Also to add my rear glass in 100 percent tinted as well .

Is this thing legally allowed in the US?

I hate HIDs. Why the hell would anyone need so much light? The factory lights are more than enough at any time of the night. People are putting these very cheap HIDs in their faded misaligned headlights for fun.

Few days ago i went out to buy fogs for my 05 Civic and the shopkeeper wanted me to put HIDs because he thought "HIDs sa Bharam Hotay Hain". Use of HIDs should be banned in Pakistan where people lack the general courtesy of driving on the correct beam on stock lights.

i agree with your case, people here even on tiny roads use HID their aim is not for better vision, their aim is to blind others, i drive a lower car, extra lowed then stock car, so such beams totally blind me on roads, even on oneway traffic, all i do is open the window rise middle finger in front of them so their so call HID can clearly show them, and pass away

Not in Pakistan ...it is happening all over the world... same situation is also here in saudia to install HID in Halogen Hosing.. but one thing is good here most of them are using in Low Beams ... too make blind to others they are too much sehzady that they also install HID in Fogs along with Low beam and using both of them on road ...

I am surprised to see that Fazal bro your back screen is 100% black and even there is too much ... Person like me whose use glasses will get blind immediately ...

For such drivers I wish I had an air pressure train horn that I could blast on them for a good full minute - and a proper laser beam too so I can blind them. I lacked the horn and laser but made do with a handheld projector lamp, a straight rod of light onto the windscreen will make that car suddenly decelerate very quick - it may also swerve left and right.

All bharam would be flushed into the toilet.

now a days here in rawalpindi n islamabad i saw many bikes with hids sharp whitish buleish type of light they totally blind the other
driver ,mostly in 'HONDA ONE TWO FIVES' and suzuki gs150s etc..

But yeah, they wouldn't work for on-coming traffic. You can ofcourse install huge rally lights - 16 of them and whenever someone blinds you, switch your lights on and give him a taste of his own medicine.
