@@ msalman...!! calm down!! i am also not multi millianare and dont wana throw my money too!! I have also been planning to buy corolla XLI/GLI since last few months, but delayed my decision due to price hike!!!!.......... have been wathcing the industry and economics, since last 3 months!!! & probably i was the first who gave the news of 5% FED Exemption on May 22, 2009, thus later created this thread, whereby i calcluated the figure of post budget figures of corollas!! see link below!!

Now coming to the point!! toyota has decreased the price and hopefully honda has to decrease it soon too!! i did not checked it from any dealer yet, though their website is not yet updated!! Offcourse they have to decrease the price as FED has cut!! The invoice is always inclusive of GST & FED , thus they have to have decrease the price officially!! (thru an announcent etc.)
Secondly, its high time for the buyers of corolla and (honda too once they cut FED on their final price). Statistical Figures of Pak. AutoMobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA) are showng above!! and keeping in view, the worst hit was Suzuki & Santro (and especially cars below 1300cc)!!! The reason is that the target market of Suzuki, Cuore and Santro is more price sensitive , as compared to Corolla & Honda. Middle Class and mostly salaried people, buy cars on lease and/or from their saving etc. Recssion is more, general living expense is more , things are expensive and leasing rates have also been increased from last couple of months!! Specific Demand for Parado, Accord, Lexus etc is still there!!! (becoz, its inelastic demand) and the effect on the purchasing power of their customers is less.(This is the only reason , the worst hit is Suzuki & Santro and later cuore in sales, as compared to last year)Suzuki's sales dropped almost 40%, becoz the limited purchaseing powers of its customers. However Corolla and Honda lost sales around 15-20%. Just see the condtino of Santro.
Santro produced 209 units in Feb 2009 but sold only 58 and 15 produced in march 79 sold, 1 produced in april and 61 sold, 0 produced in may and 53 sold.
They are selling from the stock produced in feb 09. Similary Suzuki has decreased their productoin shifts
I dont disagree with miqbal!! New Import policies might be flexibile for the people!!!!!! but just think regarding the present law and order, political and recession conditions of Pakistan. In the last 1.4 years rupee has devaluated from 60 to 80!! and every next day, its going up up 10 paisa and then down by 5 paisa and now its close to 81!!! Have u ever thought, what will happen to the price , if God Forbit, the ruppee got near to 85 or 90. Definetly, the price of everything will increase thereafter!!!
Specifically, in case of Corolla, my insight is that, even if the import of used cars are open, the prices of xli/gli wont come down further!!! and thats why, this is the high time for its customers!!! There sales figures are still pretty good!!! In big cars, its the largest selling car of Pakistan and infact the world too!! I hope u understand my point of view!!
