Everyone is entitled to his opinion. That is your political opinion. To me your last statement is the most ill-informed and most unreasonable comment that has been popularized by the two beneficiaries of this present 'democratic' setup in Pakistan - i.e. the politicians and media.
Fact is, Pakistan only progressed during the military rule. Whenever democracy came, it just destroyed every institution in the country through corruption, inefficiencies and disregard to merit. These three evils seeped to the bottom-most level and the result is that the whole system is polluted and filthy. You go in Sindh and see, even a post of a district officer or a seargent in police is being sold at a hefty price... pay 30 lacs and you will be only a constable, criminal record preferred. For district level office, the payment is in several crores. And that payment is given directly or indirectly to the MNA/MPA of that area, who then makes the recruitment or posting.
Corruption is inherent to this form of democracy. You just can not produce honesty out of this system. This is because even to win a candidacy of PPP or PML(N), a person has to pay many crores just to win the party ticket and additional funds for the election campaign. Now a person who has spent let's say 10 crores to be an MNA, would you expect him to be running a charity and do not recover those 10 crore? He will make millions out of that.
I'll even say that even the best of democracies is no substitute for an honest dictator/autocrat leader who has the b@lls to make a decision which is the right thing for the country. The best of democracies have produced the names of Reagon, Bush, Clintons, Sarkozy, Merkel, Vajpayee etc, but will their name be remembered in history for doing great things with their countries? or are you familiar with certain 'dictators' like Mahatir Mohd, King Fahad of Saudia, King Nahayan of UAE, Kamal Ata Turk, Mao Tse Tung, Napolean Bonaparte, Stallin, Lenin, Salahuddin Ayubi, All Muslim caliphs, King Babar, Akbar and Jehangir of India, Changez and Sikander Khan, Julius Caesar and the list will go on and on. They are the people who changed the course of their countries. They were all dictators but they did what was best for their countries.
With current form of democracy in Pakistan, it will only lead to anarchy, a greater divide between rich and poor due to economic misery, and a bloody revolution, God forbid may even follow.
