On Thursday the 3rd of this month i was driving down Margalla road (the f10 segment) with my mother. I was driving a Honda Civic 2010, Vti Oriel automatic. All of a sudden 3 cows (full size) ran across the road right in front of me. There was no way i could dodge them so i slammed the brakes.
Thank God for ABS, the car had slowed down to 20-30km/hr (from 70-75) when i hit a cow. It bounced off my bonnet and hit my windshield. Then it walked off with a limp. Immediately i pulled over and got off to check the engine. Alhamdolillah the engine (and us) were fine. There were a lot of cows and they were unaccompanied, otherwise i would have beaten up whoever was with them. A traffic police car saw i had pulled over and came to ask if everything was ok. They told me this had happened before too and CDA is doing nothing about it. I then drove to a friend's house in f10 and called the insurance company. The windshield was on the verge of collapsing and little shards had falled everywhere. I then drove slowly home as workshops would be closed on Eid week.
My car was insured thankfully. I took it to the workshop on Monday (as i left the day after the accident for a week). New bonnet, new windshield, new wiper = 60k parts cost only.
Will upload pictures later.
Just wanted to tell people to be careful when driving along the f10-f11 section of margalla road. I was extremely lucky. If my car didnt have such good brakes, i would have hit the cow harder and it would have broken through the windshield. The windshield's sturdiness saved me too. If i had hit it in my Cultus i would have been a goner. Also there were no cars behind me for a while so a pileup was avoided too.
