"GASOLINE LEAKS" Suzuki to recall 45,754 Swift cars in Japan
Suzuki to recall 45,754 Swift cars in Japan - The Mainichi Daily News
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Suzuki Motor Corp. filed a plan with the government on Thursday to recall 45,754 Swift cars in Japan due to possible gasoline leaks.
In the vehicles built between September 2010 and January this year, a rubber fuel supply hose for a fuel tank could crack due to excessively tightened metal clamps, the automaker said in a report to the transportation ministry.
Suzuki also said it will deal with the same problem on about 47,000 exported Swift cars according to local rules of export destination countries including Australia.

Suzuki recall to affect just over 6000 Australian customers | Car Advice
Suzuki has announced a worldwide recall which will affect 280,000 customers, although just over 6000 of those are in Australia. The recall affects the Suzuki Swift, Suzuki Swift Sport and Suzuki SX4.
It’s all down to the external rear-view mirrors. The report says the mirrors are secured onto the car by three screws. These screws are also meant to be combined with a special adhesive, except in the case of the vehicles affected, this adhesive is not present.
In the worst case scenario, the screws may become loose and the mirror will vibrate. Obviously, this is not a big deal but since it affects a decent amount of cars we thought some of you may like to know. Especially if you find the mirror on your Suzuki starts vibrating; at least now you’ll know why.
CarAdvice spoke to Andrew Ellis of Suzuki Australia who said owners of the cars will be receiving a letter in the next fortnight, advising them to take their cars to a Suzuki dealer to have the problem rectified.

The official recall notice on the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission’s website explains:

“Deformation of the rubber filler hose may result in fuel escaping from the fuel tank filler port. In rare cases, this may result in a fire hazard.”

The affected vehicles are the Swift models that were produced between May 2007 and September 2009.
ccording to the company, the campaign is due to the vehicle's mirrors that pose a safety threat. In extreme cases strong vibrations could cause screws on the mirrors to become loose dislodging the mirrors.
Suzuki has received a total of 77 complaints in Japan related to this issue. Fortunately no accident has been linked to the problem. The recall, which began last weekend, applies to 19,426 vehicles sold in Japan manufactured by Suzuki. The models that are being recalled are the MR Wagon, Cervo and Moco.
The recall has already started and the owners of the affected vehicles have been asked to visit their Suzuki dealership. The rectification work involves using adhesive to further secure the screws. The dealership will have the issue solved free of charge.
