Gulf Air offers ‘Grand Prix’ package
For Formula One fans
New Delhi, March 6 If you are a motor racing enthusiast and only have a day to spare for watching the races, do not despair. Just start packing your bags for Bahrain to watch the Grand Prix races starting April 4.
Gulf Air has launched special packages that allow a traveller to leave for Bahrain in the morning, reach in time for the warm up races and the finals and still have enough time left to catch the return flight back home. All this for about Rs 12,000 per person which includes airfare and tickets to the races.
“All the flights operated to seven cities including Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi offer the same day return facility for those going to the races. Visa should not be a problem as the Government of Bahrain has assured us that passengers travelling with us will be given a visa,” said the airline General Manager, India, Mr Rajeev Nambiar. The airline is also offering a three-nights-four-days package that includes tickets to the races and accommodation for around Rs 20,000 per person.
This year besides watching drivers from McLaren, Ferrari, Renault and BMW, spectators will also have the chance of seeing the Indian Force F1 team in action. This, however, is not the first time that an Indian driver is taking part in the Bahrain GP. Some years ago Narain Karthikeyan raced on the tracks though he exited the race in the early rounds, officials said.
The fun and games will continue off the track with the Formula One village vending area offering refreshments, coffee, live-music, children entertainers and people on stilts performing various daring acts.
“For this event we believe we have created more entertainment than ever before and increased capacity to allow more people to come and enjoy the races,” said the Chief Executive Officer, Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), Mr Martin Whitaker. BIC is one of the several in the world which hosts a round of the FIA Formula One World Championship.
The organisers also plan to hold a seminar on trauma related with accidents in high speed racing in which a number of doctors from India are expected to participate
