Default Engine Swap in Nissan Sunny 1991 (B13)

    AoA,

Thread update: Swapped the engine with EFI one after wasting double the money on overhaul. Details of swap from page-2

Guys I recently got a Nissan Sunny 1991. Currently it has a carby 1300cc engine, which frequently gives bluish white smoke, particularly, during start ups. Its very generous in eating up the engine oil.

Many have suggested to go for 16 valve twin cam EFI engine. One guy told me that he visited Ahata Mithu a few months ago and got 12 valve engine swapped for 17k, while 16 valve engine was available for around 24K.

Would appreciate if someone can guide me about best engine (I prefer EFI), the prices, the best place to get engine and best workshops to get the Nissan swaps done.

    Thanks

that average is of "khushq" engine, you getting that daisi term ?? I mean the engines which are sealed or built properly and have stock/factory settings of mixture and everything in optimum condition.

IN A SWAP, WE DO NOT GET OPTIMIZED ENGINE

and other accessories. So don't give him khush fehmis . Instead he needs to do a lot of work in my opinion to get this engine to even 13-14 at the moment.

There is no mixture setting in N16 or for that matter any EFI Swapped engine should be good in condition to get such mileage. Air filter is one aspect. Sealing of intake and piping is another. Even with Leppon filters, u can get this mileage. Just need to change early. Original ones last for 20k kms easily and leppon goes for 5k.

Nissan engine requires 5 heat range plugs. 6 is usable as well but not optimum. I use Autolite compatible irridium plugs and they are just flawless. last more then 80k kms easily. Oil should be proper spec.

I have factory manual for N16 and use it to make sure i am performing correct maintenance.

You Have To Swap The Gauge Itself...It Can Be Fitted...SOmehow Why Don't U Leave The Fuel Gauge As OEM And Do rest Of Work..!

Just Work On Tachometer Part And Get The Fuel Gauge Working As It Was Before

I forgot the most important component about economy. The O2 sensor is mostly culprit in swap engines and it can give as bad mileage as your old carb engine if it is faulty.

U mean to replace the gauge with B13 one and put a separate RPM?

Before petrol leaked, there was around 1-1.5 L in tank when I filled Rs. 1000 (8.7L) more.

Assuming it was a total of 10L, the reading on odo was 100Km when it leaked, and the amount that leaked seemed to be around 2L.

So from these daysi calculations, I can expect to get 12Km/L in city without doing any rocket science

Not bad for a start but an accurate calculation with tank to tank fill up will be usefull. This taxi driver technique is very misleading

With a dead gauge, and the petrol average not established, you can imagine how it feels like driving??? So I can only live with this technique at the moment

Never mind, with my Multimeter in action, I can know how much petrol is in tank before leaving. The tank output wires are at the corner of the seat, and very easily accessible.

The Fuel Flaot You Have Now Is Comtiable WIth B13 Meters....

You Need To Get That RPM Type B13 Meter......EFi Type....!

It Will Have VSS Speedo As Well As RPM Meter...Make EVerything Work 1st...CEL/Petrol/Temp And Everything Work....You Need To Wire The Damn Thing All Again.....That's One Hectic Job...I Have Done It And Know How It Feels....!

Then Come Toward RPM In End.....If You Can Fiddle With Pulse Type And COnvert It For B13 RPM..Thats Great....Else You Need To Swap The RPM Meter With N-16 Type...For That U Need To De-Assemble Your B13 Meter And Get RPM From N-16 Type And Fit Into This....

Just Don't Go For Whole Meter Swap As I Don't Think It Will Fit Into That Tight Dash Place And You Need To Do A Whole Lot Of Work......Possibly Some ALters Which Will Make It UGLY JOB
