    Default Engine Swap in Nissan Sunny 1991 (B13)

    AoA,

    Thread update: Swapped the engine with EFI one after wasting double the money on overhaul. Details of swap from page-2

    Guys I recently got a Nissan Sunny 1991. Currently it has a carby 1300cc engine, which frequently gives bluish white smoke, particularly, during start ups. Its very generous in eating up the engine oil.

    Many have suggested to go for 16 valve twin cam EFI engine. One guy told me that he visited Ahata Mithu a few months ago and got 12 valve engine swapped for 17k, while 16 valve engine was available for around 24K.

    Would appreciate if someone can guide me about best engine (I prefer EFI), the prices, the best place to get engine and best workshops to get the Nissan swaps done.

    Thanks

    @IsbCap

    I have seen your engine and following you right from the day of your swap.

    Congrats, you have ruined a once fine working motor.

    I hope you would not wish to type me further.

    Best of luck.

    OK, I'm doing it in two steps. First step is to undo the damages done by idiot roadside electricians and CNG guys. While I'm already working on wiring stuff and connected a few important pins. Plus DLC has also been connected.

    Based on my requirement to cut the injectors on gas and all four injectors should be working on petrol, the idiot electrician had joined all four injectors from ECU and then installed a transfer relay to feed the four injectors. That meant on petrol, all four injectors were running all the time

    Took me some time to analyze what that guy had done. Now I have reconnected all the four injectors to ECU and devised a temporary way to cut off injectors when on CNG by means of switches. Have to move to Lahore tomorrow, so on my way back, I'll replace the switches with relays, IA.

    Idling: Like a pin drop silence (virtually) both on petrol and CNG. Just loving it.

    @star2
    Alhamdulillah, the motor was able to withstand the torture for quite some time. Now things moving in the right direction...

    Default Update about consumption and speed

    Went to Jhang and here are few stats (with 5 adults and a kid, plus trunk full of luggage):

    Top speed: 180 (engine was willing to go more, I wasn't )
    Avg. = 15 kpl
    Distance covered (one side): 250Km Motorway, 110Km 2 way highway with low traffic)

    Too bad, alignment/balancing wasn't up to the mark, and air filter hadn't been cleaned properly for last 6 months)

    So the engine is capable to go beyond 200 even with 5 persons on board. And can give 16+ with proper tuned setup (and maybe even 18+ with non-aggressive driving).

    (Off course the speeding was done only in short bursts and on straight patch)

    Well... can expect anything from local ustaads. But it's actually a story of more than 7 months ago. I have taken charge of most of wiring stuff myself since then. And stupid CNG is gone forever.

    Put a 1500cc EFI engine in it. It will be powerful as well as economical. 1000cc EFI will be a PITA, and 1300EFI will be just fine. But these are rare in market, and finding spares for them will also be difficult.

    more then 90% of BLOWN HEAD GASKETS are caused due

    to leakage of water throw radiator or hose pipes .

    on board temperature gauge can not show any sign

    of water loss . with this ADD-ON we can take

    control on this situation .
