Default Engine Swap in Nissan Sunny 1991 (B13)

    AoA,

Thread update: Swapped the engine with EFI one after wasting double the money on overhaul. Details of swap from page-2

Guys I recently got a Nissan Sunny 1991. Currently it has a carby 1300cc engine, which frequently gives bluish white smoke, particularly, during start ups. Its very generous in eating up the engine oil.

Many have suggested to go for 16 valve twin cam EFI engine. One guy told me that he visited Ahata Mithu a few months ago and got 12 valve engine swapped for 17k, while 16 valve engine was available for around 24K.

Would appreciate if someone can guide me about best engine (I prefer EFI), the prices, the best place to get engine and best workshops to get the Nissan swaps done.

    Thanks

Hi. I wonder if you can help me I'm looking for a pinout for this ecu with the 6 pins on the left and right of the ecu. It is off a a Nissan Almera 1.6 2002 that just wont start. Checked Auto diagnostic, nats system, no fault codes come up. Checked for ignition earths to ecu everything checks out ok. But don't get any earth signals to injectors, But on the live Data I can see there is a pulse. There is a ignition supply to injectors from control relay. I do have spark and fuel pressure. I have check auto data for pinouts on this ecu but cant find one. So I would be greatfull if you could help me with a pinout or with any advice on how to get this Nissan to start.
    Thank you.

    1. Clean/Replace the air filter.
    2. Clean the spark plugs.
    3. Throttle body cleaning (Spray carb cleaner inside, don't remove the throttle body)
    4. If problem not resolved, clean the MAF.

Hopefully it will resolve the issues.
Next culprit can be O2. But that's a big thingy. First try the above things and post the results.

Thanx bro for such a prompt reply. Please note that i have changed the air filter and spark plugs one month ago. Also i got the throttle body services from a workshop. He removed it from the engine, opened it and cleaned it with petrol. But still the problem is there. My engine is QG15DE. Bought it from Sanab Gul from Mithu Khan. wiring was done by Malang Team bijli ustad etc.

The MAF sensor? where is it located. If its near the Air Filter housing, then i also got it cleaned.

Yes, MAF is located close to air filter housing. Idle RPM is stable or drops suddenly? And did you install CNG. You should also check for vacuum leaks.

Next, need to check if MAF is working fine or not, then O2.

    Dear IsbCap,

No i have not CNG installed. The idle rpm does not drops. ONce the car is start, it continues to start. But whenever i apply brakes near speedbreaker or have to slow down due to some hurdle ahead, the engine tries to shut off. but i try to press accelrator and sometimes it continues and sometimes it shuts off. What is meant by Vacuum leaks. Please elaborate.

What is the process to clean the MAF sensor? Can we use WD40 or Carburator cleaner for that purpose?

If running fine, don't mess with it. Only inspect it for cleaning if absolutely necessary (such as poor idling, stuttering etc. pointing to MAF problems, running too rich etc.)

WD40 and carb cleaner not recommended for MAF cleaning. Use specific MAF cleaner available from shops.

On normal speeds in the city when press the clutch the engine drops rpm seems like it will stop but come back to normal thats why I asked. I think that I should also change the air filter, it doesnt seems clogged but after all it came with engine from mithoo khan.
I checked the plugs, they are golden brown.

    Some updates

Alhamdulillah, the engine has run perfectly fine for almost three years since installation. Done around 21,000 KM in these three years.

    Few DIYs over last month:
    1. Opened the meter multiple times. Found out that fuel gauge inside meter is faulty. Replaced the meter with the same non RPM meter. The new meter had heat gauge faulty .

So opened both meters and swapped the heat gauges. New meter reading is 200,000Km lesser than previous one 2. Installed LED lights / bulbs for meter.
    3. Changed the rear lights with new (almost) ones
    4. Fixed all rear/brake lights by changing burnt bulbs, including the name plate bulbs
    5. Replaced the diggy lock, which had broken earlier. Mapped it with the same ignition key from a lock repairer.
    6. And the biggest one, fixed the AC as the winters approaching . The compressor was lying idle in my store for last three years. But it was declared OK by the installer and put in operation. Cooling perfectly.

Now as @star2 would know, the challenge is to wire up the AC through the ECU. Since this vehicle has gone through multiple swaps, chances of finding original relays and wiring was always bleak.

And today opened the relay box to find nothing present. Also opened the dashboard to trace the wiring, but wasn't possible in 1-1.5 hour in the morning.

Have to leave for Sheikhupura / Jhang tour tomorrow, so wired up the AC myself through juggar (Compressor connected with battery +ve though a switch placed near instrument cluster. Have to switch it ON and Off manually. But don't have time to trace the wires from actual AC switch at the moment. Will do it upon my return, IA

OK, will check the current being drawn by compressor with multi meter and devise a way to insert a fuse of appropriate rating in the circuit. Thanks for the input.

Also, will operate the compressor via a relay instead of direct connection with battery.

Forgot the component symbols. This is what I plan to implement before leaving:

Engine Swap in Nissan Sunny 1991 B13 -1715562

The switch will only be used to provide ground to the relay, activating the circuit between battery and compressor, protected via fuse.

You were driving it without AC? Sort out wiring part first.
