    Default Nissan Sunny '97 - QG18DE Swap

    Guys,

My first experience with an engine swap; got it done in RWP Saddar with a QG18DE (bought from Mushtaq bh).
The wiring was complete harness to harness and the ECU that came with the engine was ZZ.
    Issues:

    1. Required : OBD-II dash wiring harness as the one already installed is OBD-I and Consult-II wont thus connect to it. Looked all over but cant find the OBD-II wiring harness.
    2. RPM meter not working, the electrician (Ameer, disciple of Malang Ustaad says that a kit is required to be installed as the RPM gets its signal from the ECU).
    3. Auto choke doesnt work (esp on cold mornings when i have to warm the engine up my keeping the pedal pressed).
    4. Black smoke last week but fixed after my last visit to Ameer (after changing the throttle body, coolant temp sensor, Air flow sensor and throttle position sensor).
    5. Faqeer ustaad thinks that the ECU is a mismatch (tried 4 different ECUs but none worked other than the ZZ).
    6. Car's mileage (petrol) is around 10 km/l.

Any suggestions/way forwards with the above 1,2,3,5 and 6 points ?

    Thanks.

@star2 @spectra @SER_GTR Guys, The ECU I have is A56-Q92, after some hectic research it seems that this one belongs to a Nissan AD QG13DE. Can you all please check the catalogs ? And if this one will work on a QG18DE ?

If there's one Nissan vehicle for which you get absolutely no information from internet, it is Nissan AD/Wingroad.

Best of luck for your ECU hunt.

Btw, have you checked the pinout of your existing ECU?

QG13DE has no n-vct and thus this ECU wont work. Can anyone confirm @star2 @spectra @SER_GTR ?

This is a QG13 ECU and the only way to make it work with QG 18 is without NVTC and O2. But that will only make it run, thats it.

Alright, I guess we are 90 % done with the whole thing. Mr. Atta most graciously offered his services on Saturday to rectify the wiring and get the ECU hooked up to the scanner.

Turns out that there were no damn EFI relays installed :s! and Ameer Sb had totally messed up the internal wiring

Two codes came up: P0110 and one for the O2 sensor (which shows a straight lined graph on idle and goes all sine upon accelerating 1k RPM plus).

The MAF sensor is 3 wired so I need to get it replaced with a 4-wired one as the ECU expects the temp input (which is not present and is coming out to be -44 on the scanner).

The MEC11-XY ECU was that of Nissan Tino 2008 QG18DE.

Next job is to get the required MAF and O2 sensors and plug the ECU into a Consult-II.

Special Thanks to Mr. Atta , took 14 HRS on Saturday but was totally worth it .
Engine's all smooth revving like crazy ... Will post the video and other pics

And the RPM meter started working as soon as it got the signal from the ECU... No kit/circuitry required.

It usually is wired up immediately beside the ECU grip in Nissans GAs and QGs. It comes wired up with ECU, though for some stupid reasons, they chop off the relay thinking that it is just another relay they can sell for Rs. 50 and f-up the ECU wiring loom.
