Default Best Performance Engine for Nissan B12

    Hi guys,

I recently purchased Nissan Sunny B12 with GA15DE engine. The engine is slightly weak and giving some sound from connecting rod. I am planning to swap the engine, but with some performance engine like SR16VE type.
Did anybody experienced this engine swap in B12? Following is the image of that engine.

Ga16de is an easy fit don't know about its availability tho. Seen some people do a CA18DET build but you need some seriously deep pockets.

If you cannot take care of a vanilla GA15DE, please don't venture into anything complicated than that. The SR engines are, for the most part, performance oriented engines, if you do not know how to work on your own car, do not go for engines like these.

FYI, all "used" engines are "slightly weaker" than when new. And if that sound was from the conrod, you wouldn't be driving that thing. It's probably from worn big end bearings in the crank, caused by low oil pressure. get your oil checked.

Half at the dip stick right? That does not translate to half the oil in the pan. That roughly means a liter of oil. Get your compression checked, and have someone take a look at the valve stem seals. Does the car lose power uphillls?

Also, check for the originality of the oil that you are using.

First double confirm if the engine is Really weak.

If swap is absolutely necessary, best bet would be:

    1. Just replace the assembly of GA15. That would cost only around 25K. No ECU/Wiring mess.
    2. Put a QG15DE (which I swapped into my B13). It's a "power machine". Fun to drive with huge low end torque, and giving 16kpl on GT Road.

Btw, QG15DE is powerful enough, yet if you want even more power (almost sheer power), then QG18DE would be the better option. Easily available and it's a monster low end torque with still excellent consumption. Be sure to upgrade the suspension and braking system though.

@lsbCap people are saying that qg15de is not a good engine, as we use CNG so it needs computerised tunning all the time and it also misfires on high rpm.

What do you think about GA16DE? Can i find in local market and any price idea for complete engine?

Lol at QG15DE not being a good engine. And misfiring at high RPM, really???

I have been using this engine for last 3 years. Ran it on CNG for a brief period of time. No issues at all.

For more details, you can check my Engine swap thread:
