    Default A/C Issue..need troubleshooting advice

    Hi everyone,

My car's A/C is giving the following problem. The A/C compressor stops working randomly. fan keeps running and blowing warm air. When the A/C is working, it's working perfect. Happens both at high speeds, low speed and even idle.

If I turn off the AC and back on, compressor still doesn't kick in. But if I switch the ignition off and then back on, compressor starts working and cooling becomes alright. But the same thing happens again in less than 3-4 minutes...and sometimes after 5-10 minutes.

So basically, the compressor stops spinning and power cycling the ignition brings it back. The AC switch does nothing. I haven't been able to observe any pattern to it except maybe that it's worse at high speed (interval time between two occurrences is less than 2 minutes at times).

    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Firstly have a look at the connection of thermostat.
And then see by adjusting thermostat you get any better results. After that direct supply to compressor for few seconds ensures if the coil of compressor is working fine. If it's coil then compressor would be fully replaced in case of nissan.

Update: it's compressor coil was diagnosed to be faulty (have too much gap). The coil was taken off and fixed on a grinder to reduce the gap. The AC started working perfectly but after a trip from lhr the same week, the compressor started making a noise. Replaced the whole compressor and now doing fine.

For reference, the AC compressor is around Rs. 5000 (kabli). They charge almost the same for the cool only too because without that the compressor becomes useless. However if some shopkeeper has a working coil attached to a faulty compressor, they will charge you around Rs. 2000 for the cool.

Note: both changing the compressor or the coil required the AC refrigerant Gas to be refilled which costs around Rs. 2000.

    Thanks everyone.

For the Nissan if you face coil issues get a kabli compressor it costs you around 3k with guarantee
If it has noise or any other issue it can be changed. To ensure its functionality you've to have a good ac technician. And then you'll get good cooling.
