Indian govt ad features ex-PAF chief
NEW DELHI: The picture of a former Pakistan Air Force chief mistakenly printed in an Indian government advertisement on Sunday has drawn criticism from all quarters, with the Prime Minister’s Office stepping in to tender an apology and ordering an inquiry. A full-page newspaper advertisement issued by the Ministry of Child and Women’s Development to mark National Girl Child’s Day carried a photograph of former PAF chief Air Marshal (r) Tanvir Ahmed in uniform along with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi. The PMO later issued a statement saying, “The Prime Minister’s Office has noted with regret the inclusion of a foreign national’s photograph in a Government of India advertisement. While an internal enquiry has been instituted, the PMO
apologies to the public for this lapse.
