We don't have any electricity ministry we only have ministry for loadshedding which will remain the ministry until the loadshedding lasts and it will last so that this ministry remains alive and people(govt. officials) could make money without working for anything.
Here is what I remember from a press conference from 2006 where minister for power and water have give some stats regarding the production capacity, production at the moment and required power.
Total Production Capacity 19,900+MWatts
Production at the moment (in 2006) 14,700+MWatts
Required Power (in 2006) 15,800+MWatts
Remember these are 2006 stats.
Now I have read that current minister have said we need 17,500+ MWatts this summer which means if our government is sincere enough then we still have over 2000 MW extra power at our disposal but no loadshedding will be needed at all.
We certainly are facing water shortage which is affecting our hydal power generation but who is stopping our government from buying furnace oil for thermal power plants is still a question mark?
