Got the Panasonic 1 ton yesterday. I read some threads here and called some friends about the options. I went to market with only 2 options in my mind.
1. LG 1.5 ton
2. Gree 1.5 ton
Visited different shops in day time, it was hot yesterday. Most of the shops had Gree, Dawlance, Kenwood etc installed themselves. In one shop I saw 2 Dawlance splits, set at 17 C. The temperature was cool. But, in one of the shops, they had this Panasonic 1.5 ton installed, only 1 unit and the atmosphere was chilling. That changed my mind. I wanted the same thing at my relatively much smaller room. So, changed my mind and bought it.
It felt good to feel the same powerful and chill blow in my own room. For testing, we set it at 20 C and within 10 min, the room was damn chilled. In my opinion, it is worth the price, around 15k pricier (unit+installation+wiring etc) than Gree base model.
I have Dawlance 1 ton (10 years old) and Mitsu slim 1 ton (6 years old). The compressor is most of the time On when temperature is set at 26 hence they consume more electricity. But this one, it trips after 15 min when set at 26. Setting it at 28 is more economical, it cools in less than 10 min and trips, hence IMO it saves electricity.
If you can afford, then I strongly recommend Panasonic. But, you can always visit the shops and see yourself how their own installed units perform. IMO, Gree and other 1.5 tons ACs will perform similar, but I really saw no other split in 1.5 ton category perform this well at 20 C with full fan setting. PS. I have no experience of Sharp and General, which, people say and price tells, are better than this.
