Is that the B6 A4? If so, I know some one who has one.

I think an audi S4 forum is probably your best bet. But here's a link for some overall common problems of the S4:

i read a issue with thermostate valve, it malfunctions and heats up the car.

i dont know how many cars had this problem or someone just made it an issue because his cars engine had some salty antifreeze that messed up his car's thermostate valve

another issue i read was stablity bar link rubbers get weakened with passage of time and you hear noise from under car when it goes over bumps.

. s4 has stronger stability bars compared to a4

faulty thermostat are very common problem its not just an audi problem but can happen in any car they get stuck in open or closed position if stuck closed car will overheat if open temperature would show low the wax in the thermostate opens and shuts the thermostate its not costly fix provided the engine has not been overheated.my S8 does make a cloncky sound now and then over bumps yes they do suffer so do the vw but the suspension system is not like regular cars you got top suspension arms that do suffer balljoints are common but sometimes you think its the bushes but it could be a shock absorber that needs changed you will get a clonck sound. The thing that audis do suffer is that the drain in the skuttle get blocked thus the water fills up in the skuttle area and then it pisses in the footwell area my car has the same problem due to which my central locking module has stopped working due to water in footwell

20 years back i found out about leaves stuck in waterdrain in front of door and behind frnt fender in my 86 corolla.

i used to push out back up all the extra leaves with high pressure airhose to keep water drain from windscreen all the way down to end of front fender.

i think water drain gets clogged from leaves /dirt etc in cars which causes rust on normal cars because stuck leaves inside drain chambers dont dry up quickly. that's why we see rust behind in fenders behind wheels on 20- 30 years old cars

this is common between cars which are parked on open areas under trees or wind blows leaves on cars during windstorms.

ahh, the B6 S4 Type 8E2 the 4 door, or the 8E5 the avant version.

there are many common problems. the main being electrical. But i got this from a forum that i frequent alot. Its a huge thread, but everything you want to know about the B6 S4 is on their. From problems to DIY fixes to proper Dealer fixes. Hope this help.

    Common Problems & Mechanical-Electrical Differences of the B6/B7 S4

Common trouble codes or Engine Electrical problems. and solutions

-Code = 18613 - Performance Malfunction in Cooling System
    P2181 - 008 - Implausible Signal
Solution = If your coolant sensor checks out ok or has been replaced and your car is full of coolant this is MOST likely a sticky thermostat. (We sell these)

-MAF (Mass Airflow) sensor issues or MAF codes. These cars have Bosch MAFs which are notoriously known for the HIGHER than normal failure rate. We have seen this in the early B5 S4, B6/B7 S4, Jettas, A4s and many others. So MOST of the time if you have MAF codes or if you get weird long term fuel trim codes that are not due to a bad 02 sensor then it is highly likely your MAF is bad. (We sell the replacement electronic portion for a low cost on our site.)

-Missfires (shuttering or rough running engine) or flashing CEL. The CEL flashes to warn you that your car is missfiring and you WILL damage your catalytic converters if you don't fix the problem. Most of the time this is one or some of your coil packs going bad. The coil packs (8 per car) have been updated by Audi for the B6 and the B7 S4 several times and they are currently on revision Q. This indicates they are aware of this problem. (We sell the replacement OEM updated Q coil packs on our site.)

NO! C'mon! Ditching the Beemer for a corolla?
You know you need all wheel drive, right? Or else you're going to have to become "one with your oversteer", cuz you'll be getting a lot of it. The BMW at least has the weight counting in its favor against spinning its wheels outright. A toyota doesn't have any weight!
