    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

    Hi,
Today without any warning, my woo's timing belt broke (lost about 10 of it's teeth). My dad changed it in july last year and the mileage for the belt was around 15,000 Km. I was at the check post of Zero Point ISL. Coz of DFC, i knew there is a dewoo shop near by i.e. behind Fire Brigade. Left my car parked close to the check post and took a cab to the shop. The mechanic responded quickly and replaced the timing belt with a new one in a matter of 15 minutes. It went fine untill the owner told me the charges of Rs 1000/-.

Rs 750/- for Belt (definitely more than actual)
    Rs 250/- Labour

That guy is seriously an *******. In the end i paid him Rs 900/- in total as i had no choice. So my advise to others, please make sure your timing belt is in good condition and DO NOT GO TO "DAEWOO PLUS" IN ISLAMABAD unless in emergency cases (like me today)as he will rip you off.

Any Idea why timing belt broke just after 15,000 Km? Is it coz of something wrong in my driving habits or is it a sign of some other part not functioning correctly?

    Regards

For how much you got the previous timing belt? Probably last time you got 2 number! Timing belt for Rs.750 is reasonable (genuine GM). Labor for the belt change should not exceed Rs.150, so you paid Rs.900/= is just fine.

    Federal Tyres:
    Made In Taiwan:
    185 65 R14

Recently i have purchased 2nd hand Tyres of Federal brand. Theses were only 2 or 3 days used. Date of Mfg was July 2009. Price settled at Rs 8K.
Drive is now very soft and so smooth, noiseless, very soft steering.
Asked for opinions thru web and then decided for this purchase.
Decision is good one With the Grace of Allah.

Well, i was out of country last year when my father changed the timing belt. It broke in the middle of GT road and he got it replaced from the first mechanic he found on the road. Surprisingly the mechanic had the woo's timing belt with him. I dont know the price.

The mechanic told me yesterday that the belt in my car was original but the signs of 'wear and tear' were pretty visible. I guess the mechanic my father found must have put in a used (kabli) belt, thus only allowing 15,000 Km before it expired completely.

I appreciate your assurance of price. Makes me feel better. As far as i could recall, the price of belt was between 400 - 500. But again that might not be an original belt.

DAEWOO PLUS is not that bad after all... hummm

    Hi Guys,

Mileage of my woo on CNG without AC is 90 to 100 kms on a full 55 KG cylinder. Do you think it is normal mileage for any woo or should I opt for gas setting? Please also point out what is average mileage of woo in this case?

    Regards

    Dear Kamran

This mileage is far below average. My woo's mileage is like 150-170 Km without AC. Some other daewoo owners report 170+. Your car definitely needs some gas setting. Woo normally eve on AC do like 120 Km with 55 Kg cylinder. Testdriver might be able to tell you more but my guess is that some electronic valves controlling fue flow also need to be checked for malfunctioning.
