    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

Hi Guys, I am amazed and impressed with your knowledge and passion for this car. Yar I am seeking a sincere advice from you guys especially from test driver, that should I buy Daewoo Racer for Rs.315000 ? I've heard so many things about daewoo, k is k spare parts ka bara masla hai, is ki maintenance bohat mehngi hai, ye lo *** to rull jao ***, kangaal ho jao ***, bla bla bla,... jtnay moonh utni batain.... Actually the fact is that I just sold my mehran for 330,000 few days back just due to it's maintenance expnse and uncomfort drive and small size. The major issue was it's maintenance. Now that I am an ACCA student, doing a full time Job, don't have that much time for car maintenance on every weekend, I cann't afford an expense car, Should I buy daewoo? I could not find khyber in this range of 330,000 that's why I am left with this Single option of daewoo.

Now Please tell me what is the truth being neutral, I know You all love daewoo, but Please let me know about it's pros and Cons, as I have no idea about this car, I ahve not even drove Daewoo ever. Can I afford this Car ? keeping in view my ACCA and that I was fed Up with maintenance of a suzuki car??
how much Daewoo is expensive as compared to a Suzuki khyber or mehran?

Looking for your advice as You all know almost about each nut and bolt of daewoo...

Thank you very much for this precious information. I really appreciate your kind response. I'm still undecided about to automate my woo's windows or not as Mian Khan and some other experts suggested me to continue with the manual system as after installing the system I'll continue facing problems. Please advice

    Welcome bro
first of all you have to learn how shift Daewoo in reverse gear , coz it is different than other cars(Just Kidding). Every used car (almost 8-10 years old) needs maintananc and regular treatment. Daewoo also needs attention for its maintanance as well as other cars like mehran , khyber , corolla , civic. Parts availibity for daewoos in big cities like karachi, lahore and twin cities is not a problem. Yes is maintanace is costly as compared to 800-1000 cc cars (mehran ,khyber , cultus , alto). its a 1500 cc car and shud be compared with 1300-1600 CC catagery like corolla, civic. No doubt it will also give u comfortable drive like corolla, civic. If you r going to purchase daewoo in 315 K , now it depends how is it previously used. A well maintained car will almost keep u away from mechanics.I recently got overhauled its engine in 20k and khyber's engine overhauling estimate is also 20K. I advice you dont take tension for its maintance and enjoy its cofortable drive with power full engine and chilling AC. its soft type suspension gives comfortable drive specially in long drives. and has big trunk for luggage. i am using daewoo since 2007 and fully satisfied with its performance.

    regards

You can not have a big Pakistan made car in this budget and no doubt Daewoo is Korean made with powerful engine by G.M.

    Thanks alot asad !!!
That sounds good. I've heard the same thing from the Daewoo seller as well from whom I am interested to buy it. But I thought he was kind off just trying to sell his car .....
but still I am not feeling confident to make this decision about daewoo....
What is the worst that can happen to Daewoo?? Please share your worst experiences So that I can see both sides of the picture... "Test Driver" bro i am kind of a person who keeps a car up to the standards as that of yours... SO Please can you let me know what is your average expenditure for it's maintenance.... !!! to keep it good..
I had a 2000 model Mehran which I kept for 3 years... you can see my ride and it's snaps...

I am sharing few more points in favour of Daewoo , it has best CNG/Fuel consumption in 1.5 Ltr Categary. I have personal experience to get 250 Plus KM (G.T Road) in one Cylinder. for its Power i want to say that i went with family to Pir Sohawa with AC ON , driven on CNG only . Car was going with ease.

Negative Point: Though now a days there is lot of mechanic can handle Daewoo but Daewoo Specialist are limited ( as i recommend u to get checked only by Daewoo specialist)
New and used Parts availibility is lesser than suzuki, toyota. but not impossible

    Welcome to this forum!

Keeping a vehicle in well maintained condition is a difficult task, be it new or old. Car is basically a collection of parts attached to a chassis, if you can get an old car with good chassis, parts can be replaced that can make the car just like new, provided parts are genuine.

If you purchase ANY old car, it will take at-least 5 trips to a workshop to set is according to your taste. Same will be the case with Daewoo. Parts (Old/New) are no problem except the front and rear bumpers and few others(like speedometer cable), but people have successfully replaced the bumpers with Indus Corolla, Honda City 2000 and Suzuki Baleno.

As already suggested by others, take a good daewoo mechanic with you for physical verification of car condition. You can get help from Sarfraz (0333-5101486) I&T Centre, G-10.

Shah jee , Mian Khan advice me to get engine oil change after 1000 KM , so i am waiting for first oil change after overhauling ,so far experience is fine , pick is better and engine is smooth , didnt check accurate CNG average. I will check it after first oil change but hoping it will give me better mileage coz RPM remains under 1000 and almost close to 700-750 .
