    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

    I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

    I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

    Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

    Price I paid was 340K and that's probably why it hurts so much. Mileage is around 150K Km. Yes I'll work on getting done in a single sitting as for a past two days I've noticed they do a few things and then they say it's fine or don't worry just drive or 'lambaa kaam hae jee'. Next time I'm going to go early and insist on finishing that day.
    This is as much of a test for me as it's for them

    Hi everyone, I believe my cars generator is about to die. I want to get it replaced/repaired before it completely gives up. I installed a 70 AmHr dry battery 6-7 months ago. Since then, whenever there is an extra load on generator (viper, brake lights, reverse gear light, fuel pump, air blower etc), the battery light switches on but not with full intensity. The brightness depends upon the load. I also do have a 600W amp but I believe it shouldn't be the cause of any problem.
    Is it because of a weak generator or my battery is too big to be handled by Daewoo stock generator? The generator bearing also gave up and is bit too noisy now. What should I do? Get a new generator or get old one repaired. What should be the cost/expenditure? Any good electrician suggestion in pindi/isb I should go to.

    Regards

    Generator bearing is replaceable, but get the generator checked by some electrician for the other problem, which is certainly not because of bigger batery. Contact information of electricians in RWP/ISB are available in this site. I go to Waqar (0323 5272633), he is located in Cricket Stadiam shops.
    Brand new generators are not available, old/kabli costs around Rs. 2500/- and usually serves good. sometime people replace the origenal one with Nissan's generator, its a bit cheeper but it is also successful in daewoo racer.

    Default Generator's replacement

    @omaranwar

    I recommend generator replacement imm b4 u go on a long drive specially with AC on. I ve some bitter experiences with repairing the daewoo generator. It all started with bearing replacement and then it never gave its 100 %. Prob was not with bearing offcourse, but the workmanship of the mechanic who gave some bruises on the slip ring while removing the defected bearing. So the story started and made me repent twice on the motorway when carbon bushes gave away during heavy load operations. Replacement with a Nissan's gen is a good and cheap option and working fine with me since a year. It has an added safety of cutting the generator off if pushed beyond limits, instead of damaging the generator components. Any way I learned through hard way that generator should be replaced only with a new/qabli (un-repaired) and shouldn't rely on repair. So I endorse sheikh_wah on this. Saqib electrician of Tahir's workshop in G-8 can be considered reliable for this job.

    @ SalarsCar and sheikh_wah: Thanks for the advise. I think I will go for generator replacement. I have one question from SalarsCar though. How many AmHrs your battery is. My concern is with the amperes rating for Nissan generator. Usually Nissan has a 50-60 AmpHrs battery installed... where as I have one that of 70.

    Yes some of those items have already been replaced. The last replacement was the fan belt. I've been told the crank is making sounds but if oil isn't being reduced (which it isn't) then I can continue driving.

    I got some CNG tuning done too. Previously the CNG tank hardly made around 90Km, but after tuning it is performing better. Our latest tank recently did around 145Km in mixed city and highway driving. Haven't accurately measured petrol yet (filling full tank is a bit expensive ). But the mechanic also showed me the spark plugs and they were black. He said this indicates high petrol consumption.

    Any idea if I can have Enercon check engine tuning for second opinion? I'd like to have at least 12Km/Liter in City driving and 14Km/Liter highway.
    This is as much of a test for me as it's for them
