    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

Usually you won't find many Daewoo in good condition. A typical Daewoo with reasonable condition is somewhere ~3Lac, a ruined one ~2.5K....And a nice clean Daewoo ~3.5Lac. If you want to make other good alterations like DOHC engine and EFi CNG kit will cost you around Rs.50K.....

    hi
we used to have a daewoo too (company vehicle) maintained by Arshad Bhati (late) company in I-10 , we got it brand new and kept it for 5 years during which it was driven 1,90,000km on CNG / Petrol. i got a 5 speed transmission for it and beleive me it used to do 180km/h on CNG with still more to push but sadly the speedo didnt had marks more than that. the car resisted to all the punjab roads beatings and even after 5 years i only got the front shocks replaced ,it gave me a wonderful time and its consumption was amazing , used to do 18k m / liter,on highway,

    some faults that came up

    1. Injector got dead on M2 at 1,50,000km, basically the injector was ok but the filter on it got dirt stuck in it and it cudnt be cleaned on M2, i managed to start the car though by putting the IN fuel line on the intake, the whole pressure was going in and was causing flooding but i still managed to drive it upto bhera from Kotmomin (around 90km). I think that is only possible with a daewoo.

    2. burnt the clutch by towing a khyber on the chair lift climb (lower station from murree road).but the car came back eaasily

thumbs up to the GM technology with a SFI.

    ---------------------------------------
sold it to a colonel 4 years back in 3,26,000 Rs
even the AC gas was original and it wasnt serviced in 5 years and was the chilliest AC i ever expereinced

    here are the pictures
the car came on road in 1997

    You are most welcome!

    @kkool

(y)...Nice to hear from you! Sure InshaAllah we will meet! Yes, there was one major issue of brake with Daewoo, but majority of the people have changed the Servo/Master Cylinder (for just Rs.2000~2500), and they works fine!

    @beeberg

You will be surprised to know that the fuel comsumption is far low than any of it's competitors.

A well maintained engine with reasonable driving habits will give you around 14Km in City and about 17Km on long drives (Speed ~100KM/H)[Personally calculated] with intermittent 50% A/C!

On a 60Kg CNG cylinder, it gives around 210Kms on long drive with moderate speeds, and around 140Kms local offcourse with nice driving habits!

i did changed the brake servo but now i have a better design in mind...
original servo can be modified by relocating the brake lines and getting rid of cross-linking by putting a sunny 87 rhythm device???

I own a Daewoo Racer since november 1995.Father got it thru officers scheme.I have been driving it since then.Gave me some electrical problems in first 10000km due to standing on Karachi port for 2 years.Drive is excellent.Has a very responsive engine.I over the years has learned most of the vehicles trouble shooting tactics.Has never given me any major problem. The car has no major modification parts.100% stock.Has been painted in Jan1996 and is still in same colour.Bumper colour has issues but over the years i have learned a method by which bumper colour does not get scraped of with minor accidents or stones hitting the car.I paint the bumper at home by my own method. The car is originally 115000km driven as was being used as a third car.The car is used on Petrol(Rs.200/- worth of high octane with every feul fill)

    Problems it gave:-
1.Konked down while on a tour due to malfunction of Distributer sensor(cant remember the exact name)--26000km
2.Engine stalled while coming back from Lahore-Islamabad due to local made distributor Rotor as it melted.
3.Brakes usally get heated up while coming downhill--Problem now diagnosed(Changed brake disc to original, changed both front disc rotors and rear disc drums, now usually drive in lowest gaers while coming downhill as the car gains speed on downhill route as if giving message LET ME RUN*good point for races*)

    MAINTAINANCE HISTORY:-
    1.Oil --- Every 5000km
    2.Oil Filter --- Every 10000km
    3.Feul Filter --- Every 10000km
    4.Air Filter --- Every10000km
    5.Disc Pads --- Around 30000-35000km(when Needed)
    6.Brake Leathers --- Around 30000km(When Needed)
    7.Timing Belt ---- a)At 40000km b)At 80000km with adjuster

    PARTS REPLACED:-
    1.IAC Valve --- Twice
    2.VSS --- Twice
3.Front Disc Rotors & rear Disc Drums
    4.Distributor Module
    5.Feul Pump
    6.Front Suspension Complete
    7.Ditributor Sensor
    8.Silencer --- Original
9.Ac Condensor --- 2200km(Came damaged with the Vehicle)
    10.Battery Twice
    11.Vehicle Indicators(Transparent Type)
