    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

    1. Brand and name of the advancer.
    2. Model No of the advancer.
    3. cost of the advancer.

Your responses would help me out to decide accordingly. If any one could guide if STAP 52 can be found anywhere in RWP/IBD/LHR.

    Default Preliminary findings from Isb/Rwp

@Shah73, I asked for the STAP-56 (are you sure it was 52?) from three places here. Two places in Islamabad said they didn't have it (Al-Razzaq and one other). CNG Complex in Rawalpindi said this advancer has been discontinued by its manufacturer since about 3 years. They said they can put a different one (also Italian) that would work but the charge would be Rs. 5,500. I postponed the idea afterwards.
This is as much of a test for me as it's for them

Thanks for your correction. I have amended it as STAP 56.

Your findings are similr to me. Heer at lahore, cng dealers offered me an advanvcer wiuth branch PLATINOS of Rs 5500/-. being not affordable i left it over.

however i am still searching for some other feasible and economical option as its quite teasing to change te distributor setting every time u switch over to petrol.

local dealers informed me that local made STAP 56 may be avilable in the market but???

By looking at the PLATINOS, it seems like a copy cat of the original STAP56. It should work alike. A little bargain should reduce the cost otherwise if there is no other way, get any advance corrector available in the market.

I bought STAP56 7 years ago for Rs.3500/= and it is worth it

    A question.
On vehicles with C.B type distributor like in Daewoo these advancers works in reverse i.e you set the distributor manually by rotating it to where ever you want it on CNG and then when you return to petrol the Advancer this time works as a retarding device and retards the timings ? Correct me if am wrong .

It's from about a month ago. The place was CNG Complex near Stadium road.

A funny thing happened at Al-Razzaq CNG when I told him about STAP-56. He asked me how much did the person who advised you purchase it for? I recalled @testdriver had mentioned Rs 1500 and told him. Upon hearing his tone immediately changed and acted like he didn't want to discuss anything further and said that I should go buy from where my friend bought it. You don't get it for this much here.

If you remember, such CNG accessories were new in the market so their price was much higher, so as an anticipation i quoted as "around Rs.1500"

    @testdriver:

as discussed earlier, in light of your suggestions i worked alongwith my mechanic to execute your advised procedures in the same sequence. While adjusting the CO and distributor, we could not observe any knocking/mnissing in teh engine behaviour, means engine was already finely tuned on petrol. because as soon as we adjsuetd the distributor, engine started emission of water drops from silencer.

However subsequently the thing which struck to my mind was that a fact was kept ignored during last 2 years was the rubbur bush inserted in the air intake pype.
I always took this rubber bush insertion as a benchmark and never removed it while on petrol (just removed the tape).

So i decided to remove that rubber bush also. mechanic was not agreed but i did it.
After it when we staretd the engine on petrol then it roared like lion and pick up was also very much improved.
It was first time in 2 years that i enjoyed the petrol driving. Stil now i have not inserted the rubbur bush back in the air intake pype and also not intended to do so. is there any draback of the same???
Instead i intend to put some cover on the air intake pype for CNG as its "removal/fitting back" will be easy for petrol driving.
usage of scotch tape is also cumbersome. Do you have any other idea for it.
I know that to calculate the petrol average, we have to top the tank which is not affordable right now (50Lx89=rs4450)

For random testing, while on petrol, i fully closed the air intake pype but engine was fine,,,why???? is it normal behaviour.i think it should have shut down, is't it.

Today morning, I temporarily affixed the scotch tape on the air intake pype and drove to my office and forgot to advance the distribitor but car was moving fine CNG.
I think it should have slowed down but it did nt happen? Why??

Looking for your kind response pl.

OK thanks. But can you please post the wiring sketch or complete drawing to hook up STAP-56B on a TBI G15SF, also to complete the perfect scenario include an emulator as well. I know it would be really hard to find STAP-56B currently but it would also help those of us who are thinking to opt for PLATINOS if they are exactly the same. Thanks.
One more thing how to set timing on Petrol ( for a car which has no cng installed has been always driven on Petrol).

Ok here is the quote from AEB model PLATINOS
"The Timing Advance Processor PLATINOS CODE 531 is a FUEL retarder.
If you want to correctly regulate the advance, operate as follows:
    - Start the car on GAS mode and operating on the distributor, regulate the advance
    so as to obtain the best performance on GAS mode;
    - Pass to FUEL mode and operating on the register set beside the Timing Advance
Processor connector, bring the advance back to the original value.
    - This regulation doesn't modify the one previously done on GAS mode.
    - Furthermore, before the installation of the Timing Advance Processor, we
advise you to verify that the points and the contacts are well cleaned. In fact, the
points in bad conditions could provoke stopping or missing on the car.
    - Using the Timing Advance Processor, the point contacts are no more worn
    out.
Pay attention: please control that on the coil positive there isn't the resistance,
otherwise take the 12V under key in an other position.
