    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

Check the links for my rides

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

AC is good! The compressor however creates problem when get older, being a rotary type, majority of mechanics could not service them correctly resulting in poor performance/breakdowns. You can install sanden compressor unit, the result is also very nice, the condenser being big and efficient.

Salam all... i have 2 questions
what is the normal Ac compressor cutout timing? i feel compressor tripping off when i press full accelerator with very low wheel speed ( i think less then 10 kph)... if speed is more or accelerator is not fully pressed the compressor doesnt trip... is it normal??
secondly, after a recent engine overhaul mechanic has put in 20w50 oil in engine.. i have changed the oil twice after that and he puts in the same oil... what i have read from some previous post is that 10w40 is the recomended oil... i want to know that what is the difference and how will it effect me? can i change the oil from next due date to 10w40 or should i continue with it now...??

There is no such thing as AC compressor cutout timing in Daewoo. The compressor by design decrease the compression upon reaching certain pressure level, so the compressor main shaft still running, it no more compress the refrigerant. There is an additional cut-off feature which activates when the engine is under stress which basically disengage the electric clutch of compressor when the engine requires more power. So the behavior of AC tripping is normal in such conditions.

Regarding the oil, like other manufacturers, Daewoo was also launched in extreme cold regions to extreme hot ones. The selection of oil basically depends upon the temperature range on certain region. In Pakistan, where the temperature usually does not fall too far below freezing level in majority of the areas except a few, so 20W50 is just the ideal oil selection. See the attached guide from the user manual regarding oil recommendations:

In my case, these is sanden compressor instead of jenuine one.
Would it be behind the compresor in case of sanden also??

Regardless of compressor, the wiring harness (what we call grip) should be there hanging freely since switches are not there in yours case!

20W50 best suits our temperature range. I have had good experience with Pertomin Ultra7, just go for it.

Does the 'Check Engine Light' appear? Any recent work done to your car? What are the CO voltage?

The problem could be just a vacuum leak...

Unfortunately there are least visible signs telling you accurately about heatup except the gauge. Yes one can take precautionary measures to avoid heatup and for that one should have a regular check on the coolant condition & level, radiator fan operation, leaks and worn hoses in the cooling system and proper functioning of the thermostat valve and water pump.

Yes that yellow engine light appers some time.

Bro recently changed the distributor cup, because mechnic was asking to changed it. and before that i changed the Carborator because previous one was alter for Cng, and AcSwitch was Faulty to, So i bought Kabli One, and installed it.

Car pick up is good, engine sound is great, and Ac switch is also working in excellent now, but having these problem now.
