    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

I suggest you take a daewoo expert mechanic to check all the necessary things in the car. To name a few:

    1. Chasis # verification with the book + Anti theft report from concerned authority (I think CPLC).

    2. VIN plate

    3. Body condition including floor, roof, pillars, foot board, engine bay and structural integrity

    4. Engine condition
(If it has original engine then, all relevent sensors and Engine Control Module (ECM) + wiring)

Regarding sunroof, you need to get it checked by an electrician + denter to check all the electrics and mechanical parts. If the whole assembly needs to be replaced, you can visit old part dealers to get one.

First of all ask him to start it on petrol, since it will ensure that all the engine electronics are working then go for a deal. Axle work is not a very costly item, max Rs.3K. For AC, you have to spend more depending on the missing/faulty items, but you should keep around Rs.15K in hand for complete AC work.

Regarding the daewoo market in Karachi, I have no authentic source so could not comment. Here in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, the market value for a good car with everything working is Rs.3.5 Lac for local registered officer scheme car.

    Default speedometer backlight and headlight

    Assalamoalykum all daewoo fans...
howcan i increase my speedometer backlight as it is too dim despite the intensity knob at max... all the bulbs are also working fine but the light is less specially at few points.. e.g. i cant see trip odometer at all and can see fuel and temp guage with difficulty
secondly, how can i get my headlights' beam focused... the light is spreading out and sometimes it becomes difficult to drive.. i have recently got the relays installed and the intensity did increase but due to bad beam the light spreads all over...
    thanx in advance

    @umerpk and tauxeef:

speedometer ligh of my woo was also dim, so my electricition did a desi totka. he installed LEDs in the speedometer console (other than genuine bulb holders) with separate wiring and now the dim ligh issue is solved. Probably 4-5 LEDs were installed.

testdriver may give some resolution in a more genuine way.

i also searched genuine IAC valve in Lahore market but not found, so instead i boiuhgt other one for Rs 1800 or 2000 and working fine. Better to know that same IAC valve also creates problems in some woos.

Take you meters to meter repair shop and ask them to service it. Actually the problem is with the back plates, they usually get blurred due to age. So no matter what did you install, the back plates will reduce the light by 30%. LED has brighter light, but it is uni-directional, that is you will find more light at the focus point than the surrounding area, light will not evenly disperse.

If you want to install LED, get LEDs (any color) = number of bulbs + 470 Ohm resistance for each LED, put the resistance in series with any terminal of the LEDs and fix them in the bulb holders instead of bulbs. Since LED are polar, if the LED does not lit up, remove the holder and re-insert by rotating at 180 degree. This is to achieve the correct polarity.

If the bulbs are faulty, just change them, otherwise the whole assembly needs to be replaced. Also get the light alignment checked.
