    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

sorry for disturbing u again TESTDRIVER... i wanted to ask how does this platinos 531 works...coz as i read in its manual u ve to ist advance the distributor on GAS mode. and then pass to fuel mode and operate on its register and advance back to original value.. can u simplify it. do we ve to return the distributor back to petrol setting? or return it while operating on the register only of the timing advance procesor? and let the distributor remain set on gas mode???? im little confused. here what manual read...

Ok here is the quote from AEB model PLATINOS
"The Timing Advance Processor PLATINOS CODE 531 is a FUEL retarder.
If you want to correctly regulate the advance, operate as follows:
    - Start the car on GAS mode and operating on the distributor, regulate the advance
    so as to obtain the best performance on GAS mode;
    - Pass to FUEL mode and operating on the register set beside the Timing Advance
Processor connector, bring the advance back to the original value.
    - This regulation doesn't modify the one previously done on GAS mode.
    - Furthermore, before the installation of the Timing Advance Processor, we
advise you to verify that the points and the contacts are well cleaned. In fact, the
points in bad conditions could provoke stopping or missing on the car.
    - Using the Timing Advance Processor, the point contacts are no more worn
    out.
Pay attention: please control that on the coil positive there isn't the resistance,
otherwise take the 12V under key in an other position.
    English
    FUEL RETARD"

It says fuel retarder and from the manual attached it seems these things for breaker point type distributors indeed work in reverse

Dear Bro, don't get confused with the confused statement stated above [Fuel Retarder ]....! If possible, take a snap shot of the connector area and upload here. As per my opinion, if it is TIMING retarder, it should be marketed as timing retarder, not spark timing ADVANCE Processor (STAP).

Usually the STAP is configured as follows:

    1. Switch to CNG mode, advance the timing from distributor. Then try to optimize the gas level by adjusting from 17" bolt of "T".

    2. Once the gas mixture has been set, switch to petrol mode and adjust the timing from distributor according to petrol.

    3. Convert back to CNG, keep the CNG/LPG micro switch to "CNG"(your model specific) and turn the 3 and 1 micro switch to "ON", while 2 and 4 to "OFF". This will set an angle of 3 + 12 = 15 degree.
    (micro-switch-1: 3 degree, micro-switch-2: 6 degree, micro-switch-3: 12 degree, micro-switch-4: 24 degree)

    4. Setting done.

thx TESTDRIVER i will upload the pics soon....so u can ve a better idea. i took my car to my mechanic. he started the car on cng mode and then regulated the distributor back to petrol setting and there he kinda adjusted the cng settings. and then passed to fuel mode to check if car was ok and it was ok. the car ran fine on cng and petrol but the pick was somewhat reduced on cng. and on idlying there was vibration more compared to petrol. i wish i could do all the settings myself. but cng settings are quite complicated.i will upload the pics so u can comment better.

This is the exact copy of STAP56.

The thing in the centre is NOT a retarder, it is the trigger point adjustment of STAP. If you remove the harness(grip), you will see 5 small buttons referred to as registers just beneath it. Set the button labelled 1 and 3 to 'ON' as I described earlier. BTW does it has light indication to show that the advancer is activated?

microswitch means "tiny switch" and it refers to the small 5 ON/OFF buttons beneath the wiring harness. Hope you understood!

reading all the past forms ir really helpful...i just read abt thermostat valve as my car radiator fan is also on direct and as winter is coming i wana convert it back to automatic and also to reduce engine noise...
another thing which SHAH Ji experienced...after over hauling his ride..same is the case with me....may be worse..as my ride has 5gear manual transmision..still it does 80km in the city with 7-8kg cylinder...and on long route it did 175km going on 120 -130 miles per hour.. which i still think is not good..i even got checkd if there was cng leakage and got replaced a valve near filling tank..but still the mileage is the same..
i will now go install break servo in my ride as i ve to travel a lot to my native town every month..i will do the things which test driver listed on page 83...hopefully i will get the desired result as SHAH ji did...
there is but one problem im still not getting answer to..i changed the alternator but still the battery light flashes as i put a hard foot on accelerator or turn on indicator or ac..what could be the cause...and at what level? i think there is some problem with the wiring...but im not sure and as usual the mechanic says jsut go on riding ur car as its not a big deal...

tick tick noise can be of the CNG solenoid, somehow the shifter can be touching the solenoid wire when your car is in 3rd gear. The vibration could be due to the same solenoid, connectors being loose/corroded.

another thing which SHAH Ji experienced...after over hauling his ride..same is the case with me....may be worse..as my ride has 5gear manual transmision..still it does 80km in the city with 7-8kg cylinder...and on long route it did 175km going on 120 -130 miles per hour.. which i still think is not good..i even got checkd if there was cng leakage and got replaced a valve near filling tank..but still the mileage is the same..
i will now go install break servo in my ride as i ve to travel a lot to my native town every month..i will do the things which test driver listed on page 83...hopefully i will get the desired result as SHAH ji did...
there is but one problem im still not getting answer to..i changed the alternator but still the battery light flashes as i put a hard foot on accelerator or turn on indicator or ac..what could be the cause...and at what level? i think there is some problem with the wiring...but im not sure and as usual the mechanic says jsut go on riding ur car as its not a big deal...
Which alternator did you install? What is the amperage? The red battery light/charging light can indicate both under charging and over charging. Make sure the alternator is working fine (14-15V range). Get it checked by battery shop.

As far as electric issues are concerned, install the following relays if not already installed:

    1. Blower Fan Relay
    2. AC power Relay
    3. Indicator Power Relay
    4. Brake Light Relay
    5. Reverse Light Relay

Also route the radiator fan main power via 30A power fuse (the large fuse with transparent plastic cap) instead of standard 30A fuse (shared with the horn)

It's drive can be compared to any comfortable car, you won't feel bumps on any bumpy road.
