    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

    2. After Jan 2008 (Cielo)

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

    @TestDriver........Thanks

Regarding 4AFE, I hope it will be easily available, I read about this from net after your recommendation.

Any idea what would be the good price for this Engine with gearbox?

Do the mechanics have to alter any housing for it or will it take original place?
I mean to say can the local mechanic do the job of replacing or do I have to take some more professional people?

Do I have to replace the radiator as well with this engine?

And what about suspentions? I have already replace brakes with 2d servo which are working excellent.
    Regards
It is never late to learn.

The problem seems to be with the wiring. Get it checked by an electrician.

    All daewoo lovers

here i want to share my bitter experience with you. I was travelling with my family. Suddenly the pick of my car decreasing gradually and car halted at i-8 interchange. I call mr.tahir @ g-8. He sent his electrician with battery and he found the alternator faulty. However, we take car back to workshop, where he replace the alternator and now the car is ok. I suggest that every daewoo owner must get service of alternator after every 6 months even if the alternator is ok. Because functions of all components are dependent on the alternator

    AOA
i m new to this forum. But i have read pages from 200 to last. Hats off to testdriver.
Reading this thread, motivated me to buy a Daewoo Racer. Now i m in search of a well maintained woo.
While seeing the ADS for woo, i have seen ceilo ads also in Daewoo other category.
Now i am inclined towards ceilo. i want to ask following:-
    - is ceilo as good as woo
    - are spares of ceilo same as of daewoo; if not, then are they available from the same shops where woo spares are available
    - comparison of woo and ceilo in terms of
    -Fuel consumption
    -Resale
    -Power
    - any other

Welcome to DFC and thanks for compliments.

First of all let me tell you that all the Cielo you see in Pakistan are converted Racers. If you manage to get a Cielo with the original Racer engine, you are safe in terms of parts availability. Although the other two engine variants also have all parts available, but their pirce are on the higher side (Majority of the parts are available from the same shops selling Racer's parts). Other than that all the mechanical parts are same, since Cielo is just a cosmetic upgrade. The body parts and lights etc are available from old parts shop (obviously used ones)

    1. Yes Cielo is as good as Racer, but with better aerodynamics

    2. Already mentioned in the para above.

    3. Fuel consumption more or less same, depending upon the engine type.

    4. Everything depends upon the quality of conversion. I have came across a deal of Cielo with an offer of 5+ Lac, and the car's condition speaks for itself.

    5. Power is dependent on the type of engine. The twin cam engine has it's own class providing around 98Hp 145Nm torque, while the single cam engine provides around 84HP 127Nm torque.

    6. Mechanically everything is identical in both variants since Cielo is just a cosmetic upgrade (especially speaking of Pakistan), it means just body parts are different.

    Respected Test Driver!
Than you very much for a detailed and quick reply.

Today i went around islamabad and Rawalpindi in search of good Daewoo.
But no luck. The woos i saw were not in good condition.
or they were not as good as i wanted.
i liked (to some extend) one woo, but its temperature gauge was shooting up more than half with ac.
i wonder if the mechanics can fix this high temperature thing.
if any one know about a good woo, please let me know
    By good, i mean following:-
    -Good Exterior
    -Good interior
    -good dashboard
    -engine sound good
-temperature needle should not cross white area with ac on.
    -engine not overhauled.
    -Non accidented
-engine should respond to the race
    -ac in good working condition

Good to know that your problem has been solved. Now it's time to dig out the reason for the electrical problem! Get the AC compressor checked for any problem probably jamming or clutch slippage.

It's been a while I have not visited the kabari market, so I have not much knowledge about the current engine prices. As far as engine is concerned, you can go for any engine with better torque specification, since Daewoo is a heavy car (Daewoo TBi engine has 127 N.m. torque). 1N (without) seems to be underpowered (94 N.m.), but the turbo version is good (130 N.m.). CD-17 is the minimum criteria (104 N.m.)

wanted to ask u! does the pick up or performance of car decreases as the fuel level decreases in car...i ve noticed recently that my car pick goes dead when the fuel level is very low and by fuel i mean both CNG and PETROL....the engine feels very heavy....last month the mechanic adjusted the filter opening as the car would go dead in 2nd gear...he adjusted the distributor as well and advanced it on cng....after adjustment the car was better then before but when the fuel level is low its pick decreases...both on CNG n PETROL..and when i fill it up the pick gets better....what could be the possible reason and what shall i do? kindly waiting for urgent reply....i also changed the oil few days back and changed it from TOTAL to ZIC. coz the oil quantity was reduced a bit....kindly tell me how to check the oil from dipstick....
There should be no effect of fuel level on the engine pick. Get the CNG kit serviced as well as get the fuel pump pressure checked if you are experiencing the problem. You can check the oil level through dipstick as well as feel a vague idea of oil viscosity. As per user manual, the oil should be checked on a warm engine that has been shutdown for 20 minutes, by removing the dip stick from the slot. The oil level should be within the Min and Max mark.

What about your car's engine I mean (1.6L E-TECII DOHC 110PS/5000 150N.m./3400) Was it originally installed or did you change?

    How much would it cost?

Or New Qabli daewoo original (Is it available from the market?)
It is never late to learn.
