    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

Did you try to read the code? Does the car behave (shut down) same on petrol? Does the CEL apprear when the problem of shut off occur? What if you do not remove the key and start after few seconds(not instantly)?

    Welcome here!

Unfortunately no cover will exactly fit but still you can consult a light repair person if he can do something. Alternately, you can consult Korea Autos, Lahore (contact given at page-3), and they can courier it to your place. They do offer easy paisa as a mode of payment.

    Regards,
First of all, check if the car behaves the same on petrol. If you are experiencing the same problems on petrol too, then check for the problems like vacuum leak, distributor problem, main coil current leak, plugs/plug wires. The missing can also be due to valve leakage in engine head. Does the check engine light appear?

    "kick back"

Missing on petrol and working fine on CNG, the first thing to check is the fuel pump.

thank you sir for all of ur previous replies,
now after trying 3-4 times im able to read codes and here they are 33,24,12,21 what to do now? how sensors can be read and to solve these problems?
other thing is that somewhere you mentioned how to perfectly adjust it on petrol you mentioned CO adjustment so what is this CO and how it can be adjusted in an MPFI engine?

How did your mechanic check if the pump is providing required pressure? Pressure gauge? Also, the filter has a specific age, when did you last change it? Cleaning wont help.

Do you experience starting problems on petrol? Secondly, whoever did the CNG wiring, how did he provide power to the pump? If it is directly connected to the changeover switch, a relay should be used to power the pump using the wire from changeover switch as remote/signal.

    WAS,

Code 21 will always blink, so keep it aside. The other codes are:

Code 33: MAP High - MAP voltage not settling below 2V at idle
Code 24: No VSS signal - VSS/Wiring is faulty or no VSS at all
Code 21: TPS High - TPS voltage is higher than 1V at idle

I suggest to settle the VSS issue, and the rest shall be resolved automatically. Idle in terms of ECM means the vehicle engine is running without change in VSS value (shows vehicle movement). If it sense the VSS signal, it will not treat the engine at idle and the other two symptoms shall be automatically resolved. Regarding CO, MPFi engine doesn't have one, so obviously no settings

Yes the car doesn't display any codes.
No the car runs totally normal on petrol n doesn't shut down at all
Yes when the car shuts down all the lights come on including the cel.
Even if I don't start the car right away with out taking the key out the car behaves the same way.

Another thing for the last two days when I starter the car it won't take sulf. When I put in the key all the lights would lit up but the key moved freely in lock cylinder no matter how much I jiggled it ... It happens only in the morning.. And at noon time the the car started taking sulf again. But again in the morning the same thing happened that key moved free in the lock but once I dhaka start the car in second gear ... The key started engaging n car started taking sulf. I went to mechanic n he removed the ignition switch cleaned it as there was lot of carbon ... N now I'm waiting to see if that was the culprit cox some one said it might be sulf being worn out ....

Me and my friend have his daewoo racer at our disposal, its gonna be our project ride, we both have separate cars for daily runners so refrain for discouraging us. first candidate for the project was my khyber but we dropped the idea. now I need suggestions about which engine we should swap in it that'd be easy to mate. my plan is to go with something like people do to spectra(drop in 4efe or some other toyota engine) but my friend wants to go for some d, f or k series by honda. we have stripped out the interior and engine is outta car so quick replies would be appreciated, and pics would be uploaded on a separate thread after the project is mechanically complete.

    some of the priorities are
    1. it should be something with least issues of parts availability.
    2. powerful and something that takes mods happily
    3. easy to swap, I mean making custom mounts isn't a problem but it shouldn't interfere with something under the hood, wanna do it with minimal cutting.

I got home switched off the car n then started again n now it's taking sulf again... now I don't know where the problem lies ... The sulf or the switch ... Testdriver and Shaan are the best guys. I have been following your feedback and am really happy to see that there are people in this world who still are willing to help. i bought Daewoo officer scheme 93 model registred 2001 in 290,000. Its in good condition. I was going to Multani ustad in sadar for some of its work but come to known that there is a mechanic in G8 who is master of Daewoo. My current problem is its giving me good milage on CNG: 120 city and 180 on long route. but on petrol its giving only 7-8 km on long and 6 on local. i have place a new fuel injector. The mechanic has electronically adjusted the fuel injection speed to 1.25 and its pick is gone now. At full acclerator its starts shaking like hell. meanwhile on cng the pick is gone also

@guybwp its better you change Gutka of ignition switch.
Change gutka if and only when your ignition switch pin (cylender in good condition) otherwise do some modifications and replace with suzuki ignition switch. Although It is not good approach to change with suzuki ignition but you will feel comfort regarding ignition problems

Thanks Test Driver, the missing is not there on petrol, but on CNG the missing problem is aggravating day by day. Engine check light also does not appear during missing issue.

    some of the priorities are
    1. it should be something with least issues of parts availability.
    2. powerful and something that takes mods happily
    3. easy to swap, I mean making custom mounts isn't a problem but it shouldn't interfere with something under the hood, wanna do it with minimal cutting.
Daewoo Racer has plenty of engine room and it can take majority of engines. I would say go for the Daewoo's own 16v twin cam engine or in extreme case, go for Toyota engine. Honda engine have to be installed the other way round and major fabrication will be needed so avoid them.

At full acclerator its starts shaking like hell. meanwhile on cng the pick is gone also
    Thanks for nice words.
Bad pick on both fuels can be due to various factors including
    1. Bad valve timing
    2. Bad engine compression
    3. Plugs problem
    4. Jammed wheels
I suggest to show your car to Tahir at G-8 for physical checking.
