    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

    2. After Jan 2008 (Cielo)

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

I am not sure about the avg of my vehicle on petrol because mostly it is driven on cng. Also my fuel level sensor is not working even though I purchased a new ones but the old ones could show some readings. I do not receive the check engine light signal as I think all of my car engine sensors are working & I didnt noticed any smoke from the exhaust as well. On CNG my car gives me 12-13 in city with AC & 18-19 on highway but I have no idea about petrol but I think it is lower than my expectation (around 8km per litre).

I did some adjustments with the distributor, I moved it about 2mm towards retard position & the knocking problem has reduced by 50% & the engine is smoother & my car is not showing any major performance lack on CNG as well. I do need to know that how much mileage should a daewoo give on petrol since I am getting 12-13 km in city on CNG. Also from where can I find the STAP56 that you have mentioned & who will install it?

I live in karachi & purchase all my car parts from Aslam Autos Plaza who is well known for having daewoo parts. We have several daewoo experts here but since they are far from my home so I visit a normal mechanic who got all his training about daewoo by working on my car & he can troubleshoot the mechanical problems but for the brain of daewoo, I have to visit its expert.

Thank you once again for your reply.
please disclose your location, i am sending yousome mechanics numbers with location, find your nearest and contact.

Depending on the wear and tear of parts, the list can vary. You should ask you mechanic to check which part needs to be replaced. The items that usually needs regular replacement include:

    1. Ball Joints
    2. Tie Rod Ends
    3. Anti-roll bar bushes (also called Gunderi bushes in urdu)
    4. Lower Arm pivot bush (Chimta bush)
    5. Lower Arm rear bush (Dee bush)
    6. Shock Absorber

Regarding arrangement of parts, your can contact Korea Autos Lahore regarding the required (new as well as used) parts and they can send you through any available cargo service of your area.

    Thanks for the reply.

I live in Korangi, karachi. I have visited Irshad near Baloch colony & no doubt he is an expert. But the problem is that he is very busy & is hardly able to give time for such issuesas he says "yar gari chal to rahi hai naa" . He usually works when the problem is serious. I was getting the check engine light signal & the car was giving black smoke because the O2 sensor pipe was missing. Once the pipe was installed, the check light signal turned off.

Irshad told me that the car gives an avg of 11-12km per litre but I do not understand as to how should I check it. I think my car hardly gives 10km/l on petrol.

Excellent ride. I love the digital speedo. It must be as old as the car but look wise is comparatively is as attractive as in the reborn.

i think so its achievable with good electrical connections, tuning and most importantly better driving style. i achieved between 19-20 ks per liter during last summer on motorway with AC but i was alone in the car and no CNG cylinder at that time so less wait helped sp dwas 100-110, rest on local quick shifting of gears and easy acceleration helps achieving better eco

I need to know about the sensors that control the daewoo engines, their functions & importance. My engine wiring is in the worst manner & even some of the engine wires are just hanging freely & I have no idea that where they were connected & what functions they were performing. But still I do not receive the chk engine alert & my engine starts & runs smooth even if I turn my AC on. So I believe that all my sensors are working & my engine wiring is ok.

Also there is an little electronic adjuster which is located near the drivers side head lamp just beside the AC bottle. It has 3 wires & has an adjusting screw. What is its function & how can it be used for tuning?

    Yes you are correct.

Last time I went to the pump to get my fuel tank filled till the top. I waited, waited & the tank was filling but it never got to the top but instead the fuel started coming out from around the fuel pump (because of weak seal) & I had to remove at least 5 litres of petrol from my tank to stop the overflow .

Can you provide some info about the sensors that controls the engine. Also I need to know the about the little electronic adjuster which is located near the drivers side head lamp just beside the AC bottle. It has 3 wires & has an adjusting screw. What is its function & how can it be used for tuning?

that screw is CO sensor control screw if i have reached the correct place, it controls the amount of fuel going in the carburator should ideally be between 2.80-3.70 i suppose rest test driver will be able to give correct figures
As for as sensors are concerned they include
    1. MAP sensor(Manifold Air Pressure Sensor) located on firewall towards drivers side above break booster
    2. TPS (throttle position Sensor) beneath air cleaner
    3. IAC (Idle Air Control) valve with carburator
    4. VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)
    5. CTS (coolant temperature sensor) rest experts will put some light for your convenience
