    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

Any member having used a Daewoo car must share their experience....(y)

    Hi All,

I was just wondering if I could get a daewoo (non-taxi registered) for under 100K? I will be changing the engine, suspension, interior etc so its basically just a non-twisted chasis, and cleared papers. Let me know if I can find something like that.

Also, anybody had any good luck with completely replacing the interior of a daewoo, and put in some other car's dash?

    Thanks.

Tried to rotate it but no rotation either clockwise or antclockwise seems possible

Some one told me adjust lenght by attaching the grip and switching on and off engine .....(if case is so why not install it and computer will self adjust it )

I will recommend Ustad Waheed. His workshop is opposite to vebra workshop in i-9 markaz. He stocks all the parts as well. His number is 0301-5548100. Call him and get an appointment.

Does anyone know what engines can be swapped in daewo racer without much work like alterations? And yes with its 4 speed gearbox? Is it possible? A mechanic told me that indus corollas 1.3 idk the name of the engine he was referring to can easily be swapped and can run with this gearbox.

bro Testdriver, my daweoo knocks on petrol in last gear of auto, its TPS sensor is faulty as it shows CEL as i increase Accelerator but if i release it to idle the CEL goes off, i think it must be a TPS sensor issue otherwise economy is good on petrol after removing CNG.
i ve tried few places but no luck on tps sensor do u know where to find one?
Bro very good info on IAC as yesterday i was fiddling with it as idle was getting way too much high but cannot find good info in it before visiting this site thank you now ill adjust it accordingly

Pour power steering oil in IAC valve to lube it calibrize tps by stop screw and tps it self knocking can also appear due to clogged injector check that too

Virtually any engine can be mounted provided that can be fitted in the engine bay but with a whole lot of alterations if opting for other manufacturer's engine. Mating and engine with gearbox is not an issue at all, but the real problem comes with mounting relocation keeping in view the weight and angular balance. If your mechanic says only that 1.3(I guess 2E) Toyota engine can be swapped, then you can put any Toyota A and E series engine that fits in well, but a good amount of alteration will be required for for that "Easy swap".

If the engine swap is necessary then I recommend you to go for the SOHC G15MF or DOHC A15MF Daewoo engines, that needs no alterations, just wiring needs to be sorted out. If you need some additional power from your existing engine, just replace the engine assembly and timing setup from the DOHC engine (just bolt on). You can query regarding the above mentioned from Korea Autos, Lahore (look up on contacts page)

    Thanks.

Did you retrieve the error codes? Which auto gear did you install, 3 or 4 forward? The scenario which you have stated, the CEL can be due to faulty/intermittent functioning VSS, but you should read the code first to have some clue regarding the actual problem.

Kick your mechanic hard tell him he is a pathetic mechanic Daewoo original engine is nice and do remember after swapping a 2e you would hate your life the economy of that engine is worst in 1.3l class and it lack the torque of 1.3l engine I would say get a corolla if you want a Toyota engine leave Daewoo for some real fan of Daewoo its only in pak where we consider Toyota engine good most of Toyota engine are stupid

yes some time back i did retrieved the codes as the CEL was continuously on, some times it gives VSS and some times TPS and sometimes both, so i did a diy and opened VSS cleaned it and fixed it back so the VSS error gone, now CEL is off if i start the car at idle, now i press accelerator while the car is stagnant, the CEL comes on, same behavior while moving car, i guess its 3 speed as i didn't took it above 100 km/h, the 3rd gear engages at the speed of 60, now if i move uphill on this gear the engine knocks, but if i go downhill on this gear it doesn't knocks, but it doesn't knocks at all on cng but its not available now so i removed the whole setup.
bro which code reader works with it, so one can tune everything from home, does that reader helps in tuning or its just for information? like we intercept from blinking light.

That "reader" gives information about all the engine parameters (sensors data) that helps identify the problem. The blinking however just provide the error codes. For TPS, the process of testing is very easy if you have a voltmeter. Just take two needles and insert it on black and blue wires of TPS and then attach the black probe on the black wire and the red probe on blue wire while the setting are on DC voltage. At idle it is something like 0.5-0.7 volts that uniformly increase to 4.5-4.7 volts at full throttle (you don't need to start the engine for this test, just ignition at "ON" is sufficient although on running engine there could be upto 0.2 volt difference).
