    Default Daewoo Racer/Cielo Fan Club

    Dear All,

I am an owner of Daewoo Racer since 1995. It has proven to be a very comfortable and economical car throughout this period. It used to give an average of 13Km/L within city and ~15Km/L on long drives. Here are some pictures:

I would recommend buying this car who want a better car at low budgets!

    i have two questions:
1-i noted the difference in daewoo's dashboard , AC blower windows. Indicator/Wiper Handles, Switches etc, why is it difference , is there due to some year of model difference.
2- how many exterior colors come in officer schemes from 96 to 2001 except yellow.
    thanks

    1. The alternator can be overhauled by wont last long. Better change it. If there are sudden non-recovering voltage drops under load, the internal cut-out is faulty and then changing the alternator is the only better solution. For costs of various items refer to Page-3 of this forum.

    2. No, I don't have Cielo Workshop Manual in English. I do have Romanian and Russian copies.

    1. You are right; 1992 model had different A/C vents, LHD indicator/wiper levers than 1993 model.

    2. Initially Motorway Police were provided with GTI having different colors. The Racers were only in yellow color.

    @all daewoo owners

It has been observed that while servicing/replacing the A/C compressor other components are left un-serviced including: (People complaining less cooling)

    1. A/C condensor

    2. Cooling Coil (underneath dashboard)

    3. Expansion valve. (new Costs around Rs.750/- and is available with A/C service shops)

If these compnents are left un-serviced, sooner or later the A/C compressor will seize. Reason being carbon deposits inside these components accumulated with the passage of time causing the lining to be blocked and A/C compressor seizes wiith the back-pressure.

I have no idea about fuel pump and motor. Please tell me should i change complete fuel pump or only motor used in fuel pump. and Can anyone tell me the prices for that.

One more thing is; My Car is eating-out engine Oil. I used Castrol GTX SL 10-40W. after driving like more then 2500 KMs; i found that almost 1 liter is comsummed.

Can anyone tell me the BEST Engine Oil for Daewoo.

    A.

    1. Did he checked the fuel pressure?

    2. What was the fuel level in the tank?

    3. Did you changed the fuel filter?

    B. Yes changing motor only is good option as long as the old housing is intact. For pricing, refer to page 3 of this forum.

    C. Try putting Castrol GTX 20W50. Also check for any visible oil leakage. Usually the O-ring around distributor and rubber gasket beneath CAM/Tappet cover are the culprit. Also get the engine main seal checked by your mechanic.

Salaam to all ,Testdriver, handsome, Sahill, AZ khan .......

After a bit long time, am here.

    Testdriver:

My car missing problem on CNG with AC was resolved during my recent viist to pindi by mechanic Wajid at Gulzare Quaid. actually air inlets (manually carved in air filter jacket) were closed by lahore mechanics which were opened again and air pipe was sealed with Elfi. this was all about and missing problem was over and pickup is also improved now.

    Suggest me for the followings:

    1. My car consumed 18 litre petrol from Islamabad to Natiia gali and back to Islamabad. is it's average OK????

    2. Also on long route on motorway full cylinder (8Kg gas) gave me 180 Km with AC?

    3. car was running on murre heights better on CNG than petrol. i could not understand it. engine was producing sound like missing. Is it due to the reason that engine is kept more advanced on CNG because my car does not have emulator/advancer????

    4. Will installation of emulator/advancer help in engine's better performance on petrol alongwith its improved average?????

    5. Car shivers while starting? is it due to small battery?

its SULF was serviced with carbon changed by a non daewoo electrician. also it starts on 2nd sulf.

Just to share with all of you:

i got my car seats refurbished (Poshish ( japanese cloth) + foam refilling in all seats) from Shakeel poshish at Rawalpindi saddar (0333-5314739, 051-5792261) for Rs 3500 only. very economical. i got rates for this entire work ranging from Rs 5000 to 6000.

    1. Total roundtrip distance is around 150Km, one side with steep uphill whille one side steep downhill so balancing the consumption. 150/18=8.3 Km/L is just fine.

    2. 22.5Km/Kg is excellent average for CNG with AC.

    3. Missing possibly could be a vacuum leakage, low fuel pressure or faulty MAP sensor. Better get it checked.

    4. Maximum upto 5% improvement is expected if the timing is adjusted according to specifications (offcourse when advancer is in-place) while emulator just prevent Petrol/CNG mixing by shutting off the injector. In daewoo, CNG installer cuts the injector wire and operate it through CNG switch. So as a whole emulator will not help improve mileage.

    5. while starting??? please provide details!

    (y) for poshish. Attach some pictures.

If the old ones are in repairable condition, better go for it. If you want to keep them black, just put black rexene on them, they will look like new (y)

    Thanks dear testdriver:

I shall post the pics of seats tomorrow.

Starting problem: During my recent engine overhaul i also serviced my car SULF to avoid any future problem. electrician serviced the SULF and also changed its carbon.
When i starts the car, it take some mild jerks and normally it starts on 2nd sulf. battery in my car is smaller as compare to other woos.

I guess whether this problem is due to smaller battery (low current) or sulf was not serviced properly. Or it is a normal phenomina with all daewoos.

    Sahill:

i agree to testdriver suggestion, i also intend to do the same thing with my cae bumpers. because these are also not in good condition.

As soon as my woo passes thru the the entire process of "make up", i shall post its pics.

Just to add one thing in the above:

i recently serviced my car AC in lahore and technician excellently serviced entire componants as mentioned above. But its performance was only fine.

Its performance was boosted to climax when Faqeer Muhammad done one thing with it.

    What was that?

He simply closed the passage/inlet of fresh air, nothing else.

    Its really chilling now.

    1. The recommended battery amperage is 55AH for Daewoo since the engine is heavy on crank. If you are using less amperage battery, the starting will not be smooth.

    2. If the spark timing is extremely advanced, the engine will again tend to take more load upon starting causing is to take pause/knock during startup.
