    Although I have not driven the SAGA I have had ample experience of driving and taking pungas and seeing my cousin take pungas on his 87 Lancer (the car on which the SAGA is based).

    I dont know about other people but the things the 87 Lancer can do is absolutely amazing for a car of its class. The car is sooo damn stable in high speed turns that its unbelieveable, you can push and push and push and the car just sits there with negligible body roll and amazing grip, tis has excellent accleration as its engine pumps out an excellent 90hp(amazing for a 20 year old 1300cc engine(quoting SAGA figures)). The body of the LAncer is amazingly solid and is still going strong after almost 6 months of recent "off road" abuse!!!!!.

    In my view the only other new car available in this segment is the CULTUS, which if compared to the SAGA is a piece of crap, just check the difference betweeen the Body steel gauge of the CULTUS and the SAGA. IF I had the money and was not worried about resale i would only go for the SAGA although limited color availability (only SUNRISE ORANGE, BLACK) is a down factor.

    Mind you my opinions of the SAGA are based on the experience with an 87 Lancer. I cannot in anyway be 100% sure if I can expect the same from the SAGA, the SAGA could be even better(Proton takes help from LOTUS, its susidiary), or it could be worse.

    The final decision is upto you, although i would encourage you to take the plunge only if you are not wooried about resale.

    Cultus cannot be compared with SAGA just because its price falls somewhere close to it. SAGA is 1.3 sedan while Cultus is a 1.0 hatchback!

    yes i hered the same, plastic quality is very very bad , head cloide with roof in rear seats ... and u get an old carby 1.3 .. although all features in it are very good .. if dash quality suites you then go for it ..

    @usmanansari

    I am not comparing the Cultus with the Saga in terms of car segment, i am comparing it in terms of price segment
    :-)

    @s90

    The Joy is a totally diiferent story altogather.

    @rocketman

    If you want to run the car on CNG a carby is infact a better option. The Proton can easily give 150km/8.5kg gas on city+highway driving(based on experience with a 87 Lancer with a 4speed tranny the Saga has a 5 speed one and would probably do more).

    I have heard that Proton Saga is a good car.

    My friend bought Saga three months ago and he is still very happy his car and has never complained it any problem. He explained me some advantages with comparing local cars of 1300cc as the following below:

    Suspension: better than Baleno and Honda city model 1999 to 2002

    Brake: Saga has very good brake and works very work. Saga does good grip on the road but the car runs smoothly.

    Distance on CNG: Saga give much better kilometer per gas than Baleno and Honda City(1999 to 2002)

    Engine: Saga's engine is well-built and stronger. It is same engine of Lancer 85 to 88. This engine is very successful in Pakistan and still run better on CNG.
    I also agree with autobanda what he has epxlained about lancer's engine in this topic.

    Features: Keyless entry, Anti-Theif system, CD-player, Pakring sensor, rear spoiler, rear crystal lights and many others.

    @M7a
    If you are interested on CNG, you can go for SAGA as you like. If you interested to use on Petrol, go for any local or imported cars
