    Default My Ravi Piaggio 2011

Bought in 2011, bike has complete almost 4 years with almost 50K running. There are some major and minor changes made so far.

    1. Rear tyre changed to 100/90 Dunlop
    2. HID installed
    3. Charade ignition coil with iridium tiped plug
    4. Studs sportster for touring
    5. Handle changed to AHL Deluxe raised handle
    6. Mirror indicators

    Major locations covered so far:

Karachi, Uthal, Hingol, Kund Malir, Quetta, Ziarat, Islamabad, Neelum Valley, Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Chistian.

And bike still going good, although the fat tyre has forced bike to consume oil on long runs but its till performing good.

Second point is, the reason why full throttle operation should be avoided. It is because it places heavy loads on components and high spots can score other components, which will result in accelerating the wear of the engine. But it certainly doesn't mean you need to treat the bike like a baby.
Occasional three-quarter throttle acceleration is okay, because the increased gas pressure in the combustion chamber will help the rings to seal.
Also, @ Silver_knife the reason behind varying your speed and not driving at constant speed is that when you back off the throttle every few kilometres and let the bike decelerate for a few seconds, it will pull extra lubrication into the upper engine cylinders and intake valves which will again result in proper lubrication at the critical break-in period.

    Hope you find it useful.
Beautifully explained! I broke in the engine of my two bikes this way, one was sprinter, back in 2007 and 2nd is my current GS 150 that I bought 6-7 months ago. Each four stroke engine is meant to be broken in this way, don't drive it too soft. Go hard on it, but gradually. I prefer changing engine oil after first 100 Km alongwith the sluggish oil filter. next oil change on 500Km. and then on 1000km and after that, make 1000-1500 km default interval

hiii brothers , i am looking forward to purchase a new bike and the two bikes in term of features and looks i like for now are "unique ud 100"
    and this "ravi piaggio strom"

i just want a good reliable bike with good looks and these kind of features , and no spare parts availability issues... i personally like (UD 100) more , b/c it has alloy rims and more sporty looks, and 2012 model which is not yet available in market looks out-class....! but at the same time i have heard lot of issues about it's spare parts availability..,
sp my 2nd choice is this "ravi piaggio strom" which has more power, better build quality i assume as it is Italian and Paki mixture, and the rest i want to know from you guys about it's reliability and spare parts availability. (i am from rwp) (also i have seen on many posts here on pakwheels that it's new model is coming so is this a bad time to purchase it...?)

plz help me decide between these 2 bikes......, i have very less experience of bikes so i relay only on advice of my pakwheels brothers.

Piaggio Storm is definately the bike to go for of those two choices
unique bikes looks good but unique is having trouble in launching it
and spare parts would be big issue as they are taking so long to launch this bike
there was shortage of piaggio spare parts but now they are available (piaggio users saying this)
spare parts of piaggio are expensive as compare to other bikes
some months ago they launched 2012 model only change was matt black silencer
So i don't think they would launch new model again very quickly

1 - UD 100 is a 100cc category (less power more economy) more matchable to Suzuki raider, CD 100 , Junoon e.t.c...

2 - Storm is a 125 cc category (more power some what reasonable economy given the HP) more matchable to GS 150 and CG Delux.

    If I were you I would first decide the category i.e. I want a 100cc or a 125 ..then

if you are decided to 100 UD 100 will not be my choice, no doubt it looks hawt and must be of good quality but not sure, but believe me I pass by UD 100 display center every day, and the show room keepers tell themselves that this bike manufacturing halted in initial phases on few lots made a way to markets and then ended, so no new bike no new spare parts, not even old spare part, there are rumors that they are trying to get out of problems and re-launch it but not a single word from any proper official only rumors. So its a high risk if in any case you find one parked in a remote showroom.

Then comes storm, if you are very much intersted in quality with swagger then storm is you good choice, but there are some pay off to handle.

1 - Expensive spare parts (Not like CG because CG k chinese spare bhi mil jatay hain mager iskay nahi milty, sirf orignal mitlay hain or orignal hemsha mehnga hota hai).

2 - It is not italian, but from Italian brand, and its manufacturing facility is in china not in italy, just like iphone, Lenovo, Nokia all brands are europian and Americans but manufactured in china.

3 - It is imported under CUI regulation as half assembled and others bits and peicces are essembeled in pakiastan by ravi, and ravi is responsable for its spare parts as well.

4 - It can be get repaired byt any mechnic as its engine is as siple as CG engine. So not to worry.

ALARM : If you are a person who is not very fond of keeping the bike well maintained then these both bike will be a complete flop for you because both are well fabricated with lots of plastic stuff.

    I hope it helps;
    happy HUNTING tiger

Actually they are not manufactring this bike all to all they import it and complete it here like tyres, rims, silencer, handle, front beam, and list goes on is added by ravi it self ... they dont have a faciclity to imporve it looks nor they paint it here ... it comes pre painted... they are largly relaing on the ZPF facility. (ZongShen Paiggo) that is also one of the reason of beaing such a good qaulity engine too werna pakistanyo nay tu dosray he din quality gra deni tha .. ...

So when ZPF will decide to change the design then only we would see renovation in storm, ravi cannot do it on its own, and color the silencer only black... lolzzz

Thanks...."amjad635" and "vickytulla" this helps a lot..,
@ vickytulla , i am not deciding between 100cc or 125 cc, i just want a good build bike with self-start,disk brake, and as many features i can get in local made bike. i already have a 2011 high speed 70cc for daily ware and tare usage. now i want another bike just for ride pleasure ,have fun,and go on loong drives..
that is why i want a reliable bike , i will not change it at least for 3-4 yrs. or may be never.. if it stays good.

so should i go for Ravi then...? is it a good reliable bike special engine wise........?
