Post My Ravi Piaggio Storm 125 - 2012

    Assalamualaikum To All,

Although i had posted a few pics already of my bike, i am starting this thread a bit late after buying ravi piaggio storm 125 just to share the experience.

Previously i owned a Honda Cd 100, Bought Cd 100 in 2006 and kept it for 6 years till 2012, It was an excellent bike and never gave me any kind of trouble for the whole 6 years really went well and even now was in very good genuine condition.

Then after reading many reviews of different bikes on P.W. and looking at different bikes available in the market i went for Ravi Piaggio 125 and bought the bike on Nov 1st 2012. Then sold my Cd 100 to a friend the next week after i bought Piaggio 125.

Here are pics of my bike

    My Ravi Piaggio Storm 125 2012 -1206119

    My Ravi Piaggio Storm 125 2012 -1206120

Some Initial Problems which i had to face.

    1. There where noises from the front wheel bearing at just 200 K.M.
    2. When the bike was just driven 300 K.M. the speedometer cable broke
    3. The tappets adjustment was not good and there was engine noise
    4. Spark Plug quality was not good
    5. Noise was coming from the speedometer

Solutions To the above mentioned Problems.

    1. The front wheel bearings was easily changed by piaggio warranty center under warranty and they are working excellent now
    2. Speedometer cable was also changed under warranty from warranty center and is operating fine now
    3. Tappets they said would be adjusted at 1000 K.M. first service and not to be adjusted before that.
    4. Spark plug would also be changed at 1000 K.M.
    5. The speedometer was touching key hole so they adjusted the speedometer and moved it a bit away from the key hole the noise went away

    Overall Experience

The overall experience of the bike went really well if i had any issue the problem was resolved by the warranty center and any faulty part was easily claimed. Its an excellent bike specially if we see the styling and comfort and there is no bike like Piaggio 125 currently in the Pakistani market and i really enjoy the ride of the bike.

Yup HID's can easily be installed in the bike no issues, it is installed in the same light, it would cost in between Rs.1200/- to Rs.1800/-. You can get it from Mclore road Lahore. But Waqar bhai @vickytulla will guide you better for the exact shop in Lahore

omer Did you have tested 1200~1800 HIDs they are not that bright or is it the battery which is poor ? not sure one of the friend installed a HID for 1600 and its blaster fried just after few days...

as I said in some other thread there are a lot fake copies in market these days, and its hard to identify who is selling good and the real one, even buying an orignal irrdium we had to scroll through market.. and price ranged from 750 to 1400 so we had to rely on instincts, mashwra of mechnic and lastly LUCK

If I were you ahmed then I would not buy it from mcloed road and buy it from Cars spare part shop as they have powerfull (real) HIDs of genuine brands (bit expensive) but worth it.

I already asked omer as he told me he has couple of CG friends that he must make a video of paiggio accelrating insanely
I can't understand this? How can changing rim and installing wider tire increase a bike's acceleration? :p
Was there an engine mod too??

    Good question sir..

    No the engine is stock.

    PROBLEM:
but in paiggio being a bulky bike is unable to rev up-till 12k RPM (on 12k it is supposed to be cruising @130kmh mathematically.. which is impossible being 114~112kg in stock (dry) weight ,,, not to mention when it is full with 12liters of petrol and all oils filled) it must be around 130kg itself.. so it falls back to ~9.5k RPM in stock wet wight given a reasonable weight rider.

so at 9.5k it cruises roughly some where 105~109kmh (fully wet) on 5th gear.

Solution: (as far as it worked in our experiment)

    Test Machine: Omer85 Paiggio Storm

    1 - switched to 17' instead of stock 18'
2 - Switched to Iridium tip plug also called diamond tip racing plug (quite famous in one wheelers).
3 - Switched to stronger Ignition coil (not safe without racing plug so do it with care if planning to do so) we used the famous booster bottle

4 - Use those Tyres which look fat but are light wieght key :LOW profile I would prefer even 130/55 setup in 17' (killer setup)

5 - Removed extra metal wieght (orignal reason beauty and cosmetic)
    * metal Chain Cover (switched to plastic sports bike cover)
    * Metal Rims (switched to aluminum light weight rims)
    6 - clip-on bar (again weight reduction)

    GAIN:
    - The better ignition is now pulling bike to complete 12k RPM no matter what so ever.
    - Had to increase fuel mixture a little
    - Iridium is making sure every blast in chamber is a super blast all fuel burnt all horses are put on work
    - Smaller Wheel more Torque
    - Aluminum rim, lighter Tyre more hyper response.
