Post My Ravi Piaggio Storm 125 - 2012

    Assalamualaikum To All,

Although i had posted a few pics already of my bike, i am starting this thread a bit late after buying ravi piaggio storm 125 just to share the experience.

Previously i owned a Honda Cd 100, Bought Cd 100 in 2006 and kept it for 6 years till 2012, It was an excellent bike and never gave me any kind of trouble for the whole 6 years really went well and even now was in very good genuine condition.

Then after reading many reviews of different bikes on P.W. and looking at different bikes available in the market i went for Ravi Piaggio 125 and bought the bike on Nov 1st 2012. Then sold my Cd 100 to a friend the next week after i bought Piaggio 125.

Here are pics of my bike

    My Ravi Piaggio Storm 125 2012 -1206119

    My Ravi Piaggio Storm 125 2012 -1206120

Some Initial Problems which i had to face.

    1. There where noises from the front wheel bearing at just 200 K.M.
    2. When the bike was just driven 300 K.M. the speedometer cable broke
    3. The tappets adjustment was not good and there was engine noise
    4. Spark Plug quality was not good
    5. Noise was coming from the speedometer

Solutions To the above mentioned Problems.

    1. The front wheel bearings was easily changed by piaggio warranty center under warranty and they are working excellent now
    2. Speedometer cable was also changed under warranty from warranty center and is operating fine now
    3. Tappets they said would be adjusted at 1000 K.M. first service and not to be adjusted before that.
    4. Spark plug would also be changed at 1000 K.M.
    5. The speedometer was touching key hole so they adjusted the speedometer and moved it a bit away from the key hole the noise went away

    Overall Experience

The overall experience of the bike went really well if i had any issue the problem was resolved by the warranty center and any faulty part was easily claimed. Its an excellent bike specially if we see the styling and comfort and there is no bike like Piaggio 125 currently in the Pakistani market and i really enjoy the ride of the bike.

Cuz if it can than i will buy Piaggo INSHALLAH in Summer holidays cuz i really want a Cruiser for long trips and speed and comfortable ride matters a loot and i have to select between CG125 or Piaggo
No not above 120, may be with few mods but with stock engine very very difficult to actually go above 120, its not meant for such speed.
Comfortable ride is there as i recently made a trip to LHR from ISB and before that made a trip to Gujranwala from ISB and returned back the same day.

100 is with ease, 110 not very easy needs some time with a few favorable conditions, on my long drives i maintain constant speed of 100 and 105.

well, don't have much options here , do we???
top speed of CG125/GS150, i have checked with my mobile GPS and it is around 105Km/h at best, which on meter shows around 115Km/h .
I think piaggio also shouldn't have any problem doing true 100Km/h(GPS), as i touched 90Km/h(GPS) on my Junoon.
So basically, i wouldn't worry about top speed when choosing between 125cc/150cc bikes as they have almost same top speed. So if you like piaggio , just get it and enjoy.
If you want to do 120Km/h , then no local bike can do it, its just too much speed. You better look at 250cc or above for that.
    @omer85
how much RPM bike is achieving in top gear now??? and how much it used to be before modifications??
it would be great if you can do a GPS test of your piaggio and share with us.

RPM before Mods hardly touched 7 now it is easily touching 9 in 5th gear havent gone beyond that. The difference is there especially in acceleration.

Yup will Inshaallah do a GPS as soon as i get some time have been very busy recently and will be busy in the coming weeks some office work and some other stuff, hardly have time to login to pakwheels these days

If both bikes are quite the same in performance than i think CG125 will be better as its lighter than Piaggo and with some serious performance upgrades and by reducing some more weight it can taken upto 120

    everyone has its own preferences...
for me, CG125 is already very light weight for 100Km/h speed, it's good till 80Km/h and then it just becomes a mission to control and manipulate it at higher speeds. yes with some mods you'll able to do 120 on it but wats the point??
While GS goes like a breeze at 100Km/h speed, one can handle it with confidence at that speed with no worries, i believe same goes for piaggio.
CG is good for its acceleration but if wanna do long rides on high speed then piaggio is the way to go. Safety matters.

Hmmmm u r right people say that CG125 is not stable at high speed but when i drove my CG from isb to gujranwala i felt like its very grippy and easy to handle but at that time it was new after sometime it started shaking at high speed too much noise from engine even when it was tuned properly than i realized that issue and that changed my thoughts about CG so that,s y i i,m looking 4 something better and after ur words i,m again moving towards Piaggo lets see what i will end up during summer holidays

Grip is almost the same but it is more of a cosmetic upgrade, the beauty has increased and it looks much better, looks like a heavy bike from behind altough its not, but grip wise is almost the same because the full potential of the tire is not used yet with current rim, to use the tire fully will need a wider rim then grip would also be further increased

hmmm, i was about to say the same
2.15 rim is good for 100/90 tyre, but a 120/80 definitely requires at least 2.50 rim.
why didn't you go for a bigger rim?? couldn't find???
