Post My Ravi Piaggio Storm 125 - 2012

    Assalamualaikum To All,

Although i had posted a few pics already of my bike, i am starting this thread a bit late after buying ravi piaggio storm 125 just to share the experience.

Previously i owned a Honda Cd 100, Bought Cd 100 in 2006 and kept it for 6 years till 2012, It was an excellent bike and never gave me any kind of trouble for the whole 6 years really went well and even now was in very good genuine condition.

Then after reading many reviews of different bikes on P.W. and looking at different bikes available in the market i went for Ravi Piaggio 125 and bought the bike on Nov 1st 2012. Then sold my Cd 100 to a friend the next week after i bought Piaggio 125.

Here are pics of my bike

    My Ravi Piaggio Storm 125 2012 -1206119

    My Ravi Piaggio Storm 125 2012 -1206120

Some Initial Problems which i had to face.

    1. There where noises from the front wheel bearing at just 200 K.M.
    2. When the bike was just driven 300 K.M. the speedometer cable broke
    3. The tappets adjustment was not good and there was engine noise
    4. Spark Plug quality was not good
    5. Noise was coming from the speedometer

Solutions To the above mentioned Problems.

    1. The front wheel bearings was easily changed by piaggio warranty center under warranty and they are working excellent now
    2. Speedometer cable was also changed under warranty from warranty center and is operating fine now
    3. Tappets they said would be adjusted at 1000 K.M. first service and not to be adjusted before that.
    4. Spark plug would also be changed at 1000 K.M.
    5. The speedometer was touching key hole so they adjusted the speedometer and moved it a bit away from the key hole the noise went away

    Overall Experience

The overall experience of the bike went really well if i had any issue the problem was resolved by the warranty center and any faulty part was easily claimed. Its an excellent bike specially if we see the styling and comfort and there is no bike like Piaggio 125 currently in the Pakistani market and i really enjoy the ride of the bike.

For my other bike 250cc I am using 40AMPS santro fuse because it had that problem so I used a car fuse then it never created an issue.

thanx Silver_Knife your picture is the thing much needed to the explanation... (merging both posts...)

It happens due to soft shocks.. use L key to adjust the rear shocks.. To adjust your level of bounce required..

Default Travelled 500 K.M. Yesterday on my bike

My cousin's marriage was in gujranwal on saturday so went to gujranwala from islamabad on G.T. road on my bike, there were six cars and my bike, first i also thought to go on my car but then i decided to go on the bike and enjoy it on the bike, went there in the morning and came back at night. The total distance traveled was 500 K.M. Alhumdullilah the journey went fine.

When i was going to gujranwala my average speed was 105 K.P.H. reached gujranwala in 2 hours 45 min non stop. I was alone on my bike

Left gujranwal after asar prayer and on my way back as it was night the average speed was 90 K.P.H. On the way back made many stops like 6 to 7 with the cars. reached islamabad in abut 4 hours One of my cousins was also with me on my way back, half way he drove the bike and half way i drove the bike.

Overall journey was Alhumdullilah fine, bike consumed a whole tank of fuel.

After this journey i would not recommend anyone to go on long journeys with clip on handles on ravi piaggio. Clip on's made the journey very tiring as the whole weight is on hands and arms and its difficult to keep going with this weight for too long.

Although clipon handles are very much enjoyable in the city and the control of the bike which one gets from clip on cannot be achieved with the standrad handle and the complete feel of the bike changes with clip on's and the ride becomes more agreesive but specially for long journeys the comfort of the standard handle is much more which i missed. I never had this problem with in the city.

Its a good bike for long journeys just put it in 5th gear and drive smooth

Omer bhai please share the fuel average experience so that we may better understand. However your point about the Clip on's handle was very valid that it is good for the city roads not for the long routes.

Any idea what the problem might be?
Omer, i have expeienced this before,
I would suggest you to go to your local electrician, and ask him to strip the plastic sheathing of the main wire harness (from the headlight till the fuel tank) and then check for the joins underneath, the joins are usually not properly insulated and just have a piece of tape wrapped around (if your lucky). These bare wires short out together (specially after you have washed your bike).

Dont bother with putting a heavier fuse, and dont override the fuse, as it can be bad for your bike's electrical sytem.
