AOA Everyone.
You can buy any Chinese bike and spend some amount on it in order to make it more stable and durable. I have a 2013 Super Power SP70. And I have customized/Modified it a bit according to my taste. By Modified, I mean no exterior modification. Only performance improvements that’s it. I am listing below all the tweaks and parts replacement I did in order to customize my Bike. This was done in February 2014.
1. Tires:
The stock tire is 4 ply rated and sometimes it is really annoying. Especially for overweight people like me, it gets punctured every now and then. So the 1st step is to replace both tires if possible and at least the Rear Tire with a 6 Ply Rating Tyre. Nowadays, 8 ply tire is also available but that is just in the stock tread design.
My recommended Brand is Service. I am using Service Vigo 6PR Tire in my bike since Feb 2014 and it is still running great Alhamdulillah and will replace it after a few months with a new one.
2. Wheel Spokes:
These also play an important part in giving you a smooth ride. The Stock wheel spokes are sometimes weak enough and bend easily causing damage to the rim.
I am using CG 125 wheel spokes.
CD-70 Rear Wheel Spokes will be installed in the front tire.
CG125 front wheel spokes will be installed in the CD-70 rear wheel
now, if you are a regular cleaner and clean your bike on daily basis, then go for the Chrome wheel spokes. Otherwise use the simple one if you only go to service station for washing your bike.
After Replacing tires and spokes, you will feel quite lot difference in the handling and road grip. But this won’t improve any performance.
Now let’s talk about the stuff you need to replace for better Performance.
1. Carburettor:
This is the backbone for your bikes performance. If the mixture is not adjusted properly, you will feel jerks and poor performance. The original carburettor of a 78 cc bike gives a mileage of around 55 to 70 km/Litre for a new bike then gradually moves down with time.
I have replaced the stock carburettor with a CG-125 Carburettor. With This, The accelerator limit is increased and that clearly means more power and increased top speed. The fuel economy is around 45 km/litre which is fine for me as far as I can afford.
2. Gear Ratio:
It is the ratio of the gear and the speed limit. It can be easily modified by changing the Sprockets which drive the rear wheel through Chain.
The stock sprocket teeth size in 78 cc bikes is
Front: 14
Rear: 41
I have replaced both of them with
Front: 15
Rear: 38
this will modify the gear ratio and you can use a single gear for longer time intervals and at the same time it reduces the vibration in the engine. Gear Ratios of my bike are as follows.
1st Gear: 25 km/h
2nd Gear: 50 km/h
3rd Gear: 85 km/h
4th Gear: 115 - 120 km/h
the bikes goes very fast till the 3rd gear and then the 4th one accelerates a bit slower. It is because this gear ratio is for long route riding. And secondly I do not like to race with anyone. I just ride it as fast as I can on main Sharah-e-Faisal and similar roads.
Now, With Replacing the Carburettor and Chain Sprocket set, I have easily achieved speed of 120 km/h on Long distance Roads in Karachi. And since I ride this fast, I always keep my brakes up to date. No compromise on Braking. Wear safety Helmet all the times while riding.
I replace the Engine oil every 800 kms so the engine is also pretty much fine Alhamdulillah.
These are he tweaks I have personally done on my ride and I am very happy. It feels so comfortable better than a new bike I must say.
Feel free to ask any questions you have.
I will post my bike pictures tomorrow.
