    Default My new Daihatsu Move

    Hi there,
As some of you may recall, i was looking for a car less than 9-10 lacs a few months ago for my personal use. Finally I bought a daihatsu move, costed around 7.5 lacs.

Its a 660 cc petrol driven, unregistered car. I was worried about getting an accidented car so a friend arranged it for me. It has all the basic features a top of the line PDM car has: ABS, Power steering, Auto Tranny, Arm rest, cd player, 4 speakers, Airbags, rear wiper, remote lock and adjustable headlights. Thecabin is simple and well laid out. As i need to go to my job and come back (won't be using it for anything else), the 660 cc engine will do the job. It felt allryt driving over the flyover and speed bumps and those are the only major driving on inclines it will do.

The alternatives were a PDM alto or cuore, but both of them are no longer in production and i would have to buy them second hand. plus even if there are some new PDMs available in the market, this car is better equipped and has similar power.

Here's a brief pictorial review of the car.

Well in Lahore they do. You could call your local Toyota dealer and ask him. Wasay you can get it done from a wheel balancing and alignment workshop from outside for a cheaper rate. Toyota dealerships charge Alot.

Lol. Then you've no option but to take it to an official dealership. Wasay you must have a 'bahir ka trusted mechanic' who knows his stuff, you could ask people on pakwheels-make a new thread for that, maybe some resident of that area will be able to guide you and refer you to someone good.
For me, in Lahore the Filter House mechanics help a lot - they get all spares (like brake pads, which aren't available from the Toyota dealerships) but then again Lahore is different.

These days it's 16-17 km/l (with a/c) . But if driven carefully it can give you 24 km/l (i achieved it last winter when I drove it with a light foot)

Sold at profit (bought it for 740 unregistered in august, 2012.. Sold it for 770,000 today)

Didn't even advertise in the newspaper. My driver who's a middle man in selling cars found a buyer. One came yesterday and was offering 720,000.

The buyer who came today offered 773,000 and after negotiations the deal was sealed at 770,000.

However if you read my thread, I've pampered this car well.

The air conditioning is weak at the moment and the front bearings need to be replaced otherwise it runs well. I am presuming the guy can sell it for 850,000 atleast if he reverses the meter, gets the air conditioning and bearing sorted out (expenditure of around 10-20k)

No bro. I've had enough of second hand used cars. Now it's going to be PKDMs only (even though they have less specs and safety features).

I'm going to wait for the basic model of corolla to be released in auto tranny. This seems to be a reasonable option provided they offer immobiliser, abs, etc - unlikely but my fingers are crossed.

Yes, I quite agree that auto swift is too expensive plus it's not fuel economical. I already won a swift and buying the same car in a worse transmission (manual rev happy 5 speed vs ancient 4 speed auto tranny) is kinda stupid.

So for now, I'm going to wait and see what Toyota has to offer.

Honda city aspire is a good option but it's way too overpriced. Plus it's going to be replaced next year anyway.

Question what about Staring oil, and transmission oil of Daihutsu Move 2006

What staring oil, and transmission oil being used by you for Daihutsu Move?, I also have Daihutsu Move and now time to change its staring oil and transmission oil. Can any body recommend me the the original oils being already used for Move, or the best alternative of these two oils available in Lahore Pakistan? Looking for guidance by return here. Thanks

I got the transmission fluid changed... For details, please have a look at post #90.
Never got the steering oil changed.
The car was sold a few months ago.
For engine oils you can have a look at post #220 and 260 on this thread.

Yes, the handbrake is on the far left . Check post number 9 on this thread
In order to engage or disengage it you have to push it with your feet. You will see a handbrake sign in your speedometer when it's engaged and can hear a crunching sound when it's being activated-and a 'tuk' sound when you're disengaging it.
Yes a duplicate remote can be made, I will PM the contact number of the mechanic who can sort you out. However do bear in mind that this car has an immobiliser and an ordinary copy key will sound the alarm of the car as soon as you put it in the key hole of the door.

We keep cars for atleast 10 years.
This car served me really well for one and a half year after which the compressor went bust, and i would waste alot of time and money to get it fixed. It worked temporarily after which it would again cause problems.
I couldn't bother to fix it again and again in the 50 degrees June heat so I decided to get rid of it.
A lot of other jdm users have similar problems.
This time I wanted to buy a more powerful car and the best option was vitz. Which would cost me 15 lacs and yet still cause issues used cars have (no idea whether they're accidented or not, parts availability issue, no official mechanics who know what to do at every 5000 kms, etc) .
So this is why I opted for swift auto and i am really enjoying it. I'm sure it will be problem free for the next 5-6 years atleast.

My advice for everyone who wants a trouble free car to keep long term like me -

For a small students /single young professionals car : suzuki wagon r
To upgrade from that : swift manual /auto
Small family: honda city aspire. Proper family saloon :honda civic top of the line variant.

Anything beyond this ( which is unnecessary) should be bought brand new ie bmw, Mercedes, etc.

Omer is right, just push the very left pedle for hand break and again push it and release it to release the hand break. for your info i bought my Dihutsu move 2oo6 model custom in dec 2o12, only changed its air filter once and engin oil of Caltex 1oW3o and oil filter of Gard dihutsu core thrice after completion of 5ooo km each time, and it is runing perfectly so far, even didnt feel the requirement for tunning so far.But for safety sake want to get it tunned but fearing once it gets tunned it may starts giving problems, so driving it as it is.
