    Default My new Daihatsu Move

    Hi there,
As some of you may recall, i was looking for a car less than 9-10 lacs a few months ago for my personal use. Finally I bought a daihatsu move, costed around 7.5 lacs.

Its a 660 cc petrol driven, unregistered car. I was worried about getting an accidented car so a friend arranged it for me. It has all the basic features a top of the line PDM car has: ABS, Power steering, Auto Tranny, Arm rest, cd player, 4 speakers, Airbags, rear wiper, remote lock and adjustable headlights. Thecabin is simple and well laid out. As i need to go to my job and come back (won't be using it for anything else), the 660 cc engine will do the job. It felt allryt driving over the flyover and speed bumps and those are the only major driving on inclines it will do.

The alternatives were a PDM alto or cuore, but both of them are no longer in production and i would have to buy them second hand. plus even if there are some new PDMs available in the market, this car is better equipped and has similar power.

Here's a brief pictorial review of the car.

    Pros:
    1. Excellent drive, auto is a big advantage
    2. Good a/c
    3. Goes upto 130 km/hr
    4. More Comfortable compared to Pdm hatchbacks
    5. Very spacious esp in front as the gear is on the dashboard
    6. Storage bins everywhere
    7. Better turning radius and easy to park even in the tightest of parking spaces.
    8. Tinted privacy glass keeps the car very cool

    Here's a list of cons :
    1. The meter has been reversed, got the original Japanese papers in which the actual mileage is 62,000kms
    2. The rear door speakers aren't working, there could be a possibility that the car is accidented or there could be a minor electric issue. The doors close well and all the lights/ electronics work.
    3. Annoying electronic controller welcome voice every time I start the car
    4. Strangely enough I can't access fm91, only fm89 can be played on its radio
    5. Security system is temperamental, sometimes the cars alarm sounds even when u use the copy key to open the door and sometimes u can drive with the copy key and no alarm sounds
    6. Spark plugs are not available in the market (https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/eng...-2007-required)

overall, if u know the dealer well u can get a very good car. But I have yet to check if this car is in one piece and not 2 cars joined to make one as I haven't got it tuned as yet. So far, I have driven it everyday for the past 2 months and haven't regretted buying a JDM car.

Don't know if he offered you market price or not but Filter House is really expensive. I bought JDM Alto Air filter from then for Rs. 800 but same was available on other shops for Rs 400.

I think there aren't any rear door speakers. You will have purchase a pair for rear doors.

sorry that picture got deleted, it came in a rubber housing as well. Filter House is close to my house so i prefer that shop. Plus its highly recommended by other JDM owners.

true, and i am quite certain its mileage won't be more than 14km/l
but in this price range, what other choices do we have? PDMs which are tin boxes with 80's technology?

I have a L250s Mira (2006) and its fuel consumption is also somewhat similar or slightly lower. I think all these 660s consume a lot of fuel once u go beyond 80kmph, reason is their small engines and becoz most of them have only three gears in the AT.

got my spark plugs replaced today. the mechanic told me that NGK plugs had been installed previously and those were local. This time i got genuine toyota Iridium spark plugs

The sparks plugs were very easily accessible and the whole process took about half an hour. Here are the pics of the old NGK plugs and new Iridium plugs
