    Default My new Daihatsu Move

    Hi there,
As some of you may recall, i was looking for a car less than 9-10 lacs a few months ago for my personal use. Finally I bought a daihatsu move, costed around 7.5 lacs.

Its a 660 cc petrol driven, unregistered car. I was worried about getting an accidented car so a friend arranged it for me. It has all the basic features a top of the line PDM car has: ABS, Power steering, Auto Tranny, Arm rest, cd player, 4 speakers, Airbags, rear wiper, remote lock and adjustable headlights. Thecabin is simple and well laid out. As i need to go to my job and come back (won't be using it for anything else), the 660 cc engine will do the job. It felt allryt driving over the flyover and speed bumps and those are the only major driving on inclines it will do.

The alternatives were a PDM alto or cuore, but both of them are no longer in production and i would have to buy them second hand. plus even if there are some new PDMs available in the market, this car is better equipped and has similar power.

Here's a brief pictorial review of the car.

The move is giving me a mileage of 16 -17 km/l on A/C...it is being driven in the city at speeds b/w 60 - 80 km/hr...I have checked the mileage thrice in the last weeks and this is the roundabout figure...

I have this car and i won't cover the fact that the pick up isn't effected by A/C and 4/5 Persons on board. You gotta rememeber that it is a 660cc car and initial pick up feels a bit sluggish with A/C on and 4/5 persons on board, but you will only feel slow pick-up till you attain the speed from 0 till 30. After that there is no issue at all.. But It is still better than a PKDM 800cc car in th same condition

The interesting thing is that it has more rear legroom than a swift... I've hauled 6 people in my car with the a/c on. As it was rush hour i didn't face any problems with speed or acceleration.. But it's underside kept hitting the speed breakers and that made a heart breaking sound :p I drove it recently on the motorway at speeds of up to 120km/hr with one passenger... And it went very smoothly... It doesn't seem light or unstable at that speed and surprisingly it didn't effect my fuel mileage of 16km/hr. Weird but true.
Sometimes I do feel that there's a lac of acceleration but it's all compensated by the spacious and comfortable interior and most important of all its automatic transmission.

Do you consider that this "lack of acceleration" is more than Mehran ????
