Default My New Purchase - Daihatsu MIRA

I recently purchased Daihatsu MIRA 2007 (new shape). My requirements were simple i.e. a good automatic car in lowest budget, as it will be driven by my wife who is not willing to drive manual cars. I was more interested in good/clean interior and good engine and least interested in external body (it should be in 1 piece, minor touch ups, repaint etc were not an issue for me)

My searched narrowed to JDM Suzuki Alto & Daihatsu MIRA. Survey in End of June 2013 in Islamabad market showed that Alto with full option was available for not less than Rs 700,000 while MIRA (4 door) was not available for less than Rs 800,000. I shortlisted an unregistered Daihatsu ESSE (full option with 4 Auto) and a Alto 2006 for Rs 700,000 each but finally found this car.

Below are some pictures of the ride.

How is the ride?, any issues with ground clearance on bumps etc with a few ppl inside?
Does it feel too underpowered with the A/C on ?
The ride is very comfortable. There was no issue of ground clearance with 4 adults and 2 young kids on board (I am using 175/70/R13 Tyres).
Well it will be misleading if I say there is no effect with AC ON, but you can manage. Its not like it won't accelerate or don't go beyond 60km/h but yes, you can feel the load on the engine.

I will recommend shell synthetic oil for mira it costs 1800rs.when i bought my mira it had heavy oil resulting heavy on pick and mileage.i used this shell oil when i had passo so i decided to use the same oil in mira which improved mileage and pick.

Now im getting 13-15 easily in city.

20w-50 is not suitable for these engines in any climate, see owner's manual for recommended viscosity. 5w-30 is good enough for all kind of weathers. If you need extra satisfaction, go for some good fully synthetic 5w-40 oil.

Recommended oil in user manual is 0w-20 or 5w-30. Does anyone knows whether Castrol Magnatec is available in 5W-30.

I found this on their website but not sure whether its available in Pakistan or not

I haven't seen this, but shell ultra 5w30 is available easily and can be used for extended drain intervals

That means the oil is doing its job. Flush the engine with Liqui Moly engine flush if you must.

The effects are long term ofc, use whatever oil but make sure its what the manufacturer recommends which in your case is 0W20/5W30?

it's your car, and your choice, either go for manufacturer's recommendation or the shop keeper's.

with most modern oils, you can safely switch between the two, you can find information about this in oil's description or the oil company's website
