Default Our new ride 2012 Daihatsu Mira ES

So we set out to actually buy a Toyota Passo and we came across a new type of Mira in town, at first we thought it was just another Mira variation but after searching it online we came to know more about the car. It's an extremely fuel efficient eco car whose sole purpose is delivering the 30 kpl it's website claims. We immediately set out to search for the car and due to our search parameters ( Only a G grade model) and the fact that there were limited number of the car available in the market, locating the car became an arduous task. Finally, alhumdulilah we found a car in what seemed like an offer too real to be true and immediately bought it.

Although there are many fuel saving features in the car, here are the main ones:
    1. Idle stop system ( the car shuts off the engine at stops).
    2. Regenerative braking ( the car charges it's battery while braking so that at stops it uses battery charge to power the ac and sound system while the engine is off).
    3. Increased engine compression from 10.5 to 11.3.

These are regular features of the car:
    1. ABS with EBD and 4 Airbags ( Dual front airbags and two side airbags for driver and front passenger).
    2. Traction control with Vehicle stability control.
    3. Leather wrapped steering wheel.
    4. Automatic climate control.
    5. Smart entry key with the engine start button.
And the rest are the usual power accessories usually found in standard 660cc JDM cars such as power windows, power side mirrors with retract option etc. Mind you the above stated features are only available in the G grade Mira ES, the ones of the lower trim level are missing these features and the smart entry system is optional on all trims.

    Please say Masha Allah.

Yes it's engine produces 52 hp and 60 nm of torque. Mehran's engine design is awfully old so it's not as efficient and powerful compared to modern engines even though it might have a larger displacement.

Dude very Impressive Ride + lots of kool features, I'm loving it

Man is it compatible with our local low grade fuel?? mostly i have seen 660/1000cc 3 cylinder JDM never feel happy with our fuel thatz y they give poor mileage + knocking + vibration + noisy Engine.

above 1000cc JDM can digest our low grade fuel easily without any issues.

May be i am wrong but its my personal experience

dear friends ...... i have been in this import business from years and for a G selection japanese car few following things are must

    1. Push start
    2. Climate control
    3. Leather interior
    4. RPM meters - varies from cars

but i will totally disagree with you on one thing ... a 660cc car will never give a mileage of 14+ km/l within city with ac on what ever is the style of driving ..... i dont know why people always lie on this issue ...... i may be wrong but since last many years not even a singly car gave me above 14km/l ...... few 660cc also came with turbos and they end up with 10-11km/l

Yup u r absolutely right, 660cc engines run in loaded form + our local low grade fuel is not suitable for them

it can do 16 to 18km/L with out AC with CVT only

same is the case with 1000cc vitz there mileage is very poor as compare to 1300cc vitz

Look guys I know this is hard to believe but I have now connected a bluetooth obd device and soon I will tell you my fuel avg. direct from the car ecu. Also there is no knocking issue on regular petrol but mixing a bit of hi-octane improves the consumption.

So this car has engine start and stop function, how much delay is there when as it only has combustion engine not an electric engine like hybrid cars. And combustion engine takes time to start unlike electric motor. Please guide me in a proper way if I am wrong.

Strange for Mira to run so efficiently! ;-) If it wasn't for her name, I would have bought this car already! ;-)
But after seeing that just like you, I also have been checking out Passo car, own a Nexus 4 phone, and darn it have the same brown table sheet in the pic (Lol), I'm afraid I might end up buying Mira G too!!! ;D

BTW, what was her rate for you? ;-) Also mention the mileage that you calculated again.

    Have a great ride!

please share your fuel average with obd ..... secondly please also confirm that if the car a/c is on did its eco idle still works like the car engine is off and still a/c is working ..... in extreme temperatures of pakistan i seriously doubt that a 660cc engine will keep the a/c on without having any battery backup

@platinumice...the car ecu gives real-time figures which r generally not very accurate over a perod of time..in order to arrive at accurate figures, you need to fill the tank and then divide the total mileage with no. of litres at next refill..generally 660cc mira gives 13-14km/litre with AC in city..i have a premio and have to follow the same method to get cars accurate fuel average...cars ecu gives 10-15% higher readings

@mazher, you are right about that and I have do have the average. I filled up the tank with 15 litres of fuel, 12 litre supreme and 3 litre high octane. I drove it around for one week till the tank emptied yesterday and the total distance I covered was 365 km. You do the maths.
