Default It's Ignis time, AlhamdoLillah :)

Presenting "Ignis Hybrid" by Suzuki Japan!

Assalam-o-Alaikum fellow PW's. AlhamdoLillah bought Suzuki Ignis Hybrid from Japan last month. By the Grace of Almighty, 1st Ignis Hybrid of Pakistan cleared from Karachi customs today and Insha Allah should reach Lahore in next 3-4 days Needless to say, I had to do a lot of survey and research before finally being convinced that it was the best option to go for in 1.8-2.2 Million range category. Pictures are from the auction house. Any questions regarding the car, feel free to ask and I shall try to address as per my best knowledge and ability. Main specs are:

Suzuki Ignis, MX Hybrid trim with 1.242L Dual Jet Engine and Mild Hybrid System
Transmission: CVT (option of 7 speed paddle shifters in MZ trim)
Push start, Multimedia leather steering, Cruise control (MZ)
    Climate control and 4 Airbags
    Magic seats
    Front LED lights (MZ )
Smart key entry system with Immobilizer
Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill start assist
Total Horsepower 92 (Engine + Motor) , Vehicle weight only 880 Kg so great weight to power ratio
Its SA grade , 1300 km driven, 2016 March manufactured

Its IGNIS time AlhamdoLillah -1703408Its IGNIS time AlhamdoLillah -1703409

    Design

    Sub-Compact Crossover

Concept? After its debut at Geneva and Tokyo Motor shows last year as a concept, itssales started in Japan on February 18th, 2016

Dimensions (Vezel comparison) ? Almost 2 feet shorter than Vezel Hybrid in Length but almost same Width, Height and Ground clearance as Vezel

Engine ? 1242cc DOHC Intake and Exhaust VVT, Suzuki?s Dual Jet Technology coupled with Suzuki?s SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System). Mileage figures for MX, MZ trim 28.0 kmpl as per Japan testing cycle. 0-100 km/h: 10.8 sec

    Features

    1. SHVS ? Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki Japan is categorized into mild hybrid system category (for reference Honda?s previous IMA in Insight, Civic and previous gen. Fit are most familiar examples of mild hybrid system). This system differs from Full hybrids in the sense that they are unable to run on EV mode alone, primarily there is Motor assist (in engine restart as well as acceleration), Regenerative Braking and Idle Stop functionalities achieved with the help of a separate Li-Ion Battery. Motor assist is achieved by a modern Integrated Starter Generator (Motor). For details please see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SswlsyuXb4

    2. Available trims ? MG, MX and MZ. (MZ has front LED lights, Paddle shifters and Cruise Control) All trims have the option of adding safety package and other manufacturer options.

    3. Trunk space - Plenty of trunk space for this category vehicle

    4. Complete list of features are here ???? HYBRID MZ ???? | ???

Congrats @drzac. It's an unorthodox shape, the front looks nice, however, I am not sold on the shape (which is just a personal preference). Seems like a great value for money vehicle though and the 880 kg weight, I guess it's probably faster than the 1.3 cars here.

Looking forward to your detailed review.

Thanks for the kind words janab. Yes unquestionably a bold exterior approach by suzuki this time around and most probably every person will either hate it or love it
Very nimble MashAllah. Have had a friendly run on ring road with a friend s 1.3L manual city and till quarter mile maintained a 2 car gap. After that the gap started increasing slightly

Well by the looks of it this car can be a threat to local 1.8 cars as well.

Yes but I have a feeling that it will beat them due to hybrid motor and Cvt transmission.

Softer than vezel but still stiffer than hatchbacks and sedans due to crossover

I Actually prefer harder suspensions now. The ride is driver focused. It enhances stability, grip and steering feel.

Yes that's the plus side which people usually overlook. Only urban driving on smooth roads is not always the case

Hate is a strong word, looks is just a subjective matter, as long as it performs well, should be accepted I guess

Wow, I don't consider the manual 1.3 city to be a slouch and if it'll keep toe to toe with the 1.5, it's fast enough.

Respect your opinion bro. Yes looks are totally subjective and hence variety of opinions will always be there for practically every car. I personally find prius and aqua very average on exterior but that didn't stop em from becoming no 1 hybrid sellers for over a decade

Yes I think it's mileage is at par with Aqua and Fit which is an achievement for Suzuki since this is a mild and not full hybrid like Toyota or Honda japan. TECT platform is extremely light yet more robust and rigid, I guess Suzuki engineers did their work very efficiently meter over 180 is for JDM's which are conceptualized or produced locally elsewhere as well and Ignis is getting manufactured in India by this year's end and then followed by Europe next year
