    Default Premio ATF

While driving my premio '05, I can feel the gear change taking longer than usual...like more revs before gear change. Please tell me how I can check if oil needs to be changed. And if it needs to be changed, where should I get it done from in karachi? Thanks.

First of all mention the mileage of the car. Also mention if the transmission oil has been changed before, if yes, when ?

Shifting taking longer than usual can be caused by many things, i guess some sensor stuff may be. The experts will guide better.

Post the answers to the above questions so that the experts are able to guide you specifically.

The odo tells 30k, but its impossible to know exact since the meter was probably reversed by the dealer. When we bought it, it showed 8k. And ATF hasnt been changed by me before.

Change it on FIRST priority, find out what spec fluid your transmission needs and do it.

it is best to get the automatic transmission oil changed. your car probably uses dexron VI, but since toyota's own fluids are available, it would be better to get toyota ATF.

whether this solves the problem or not, you should get the transmission oil changed. in fact, it is recommend getting all the fluids changed and all the belts and connections checked when a used car is bought.

You can find Toyota ATF almost anywhere in karachi, but you'd prefer going to tibet center/rimpa plaza if you want the best price (trust me the difference is there)

For getting it changed, you can do it yourself if you want, it is very easy. if not, almost any mechanic can do it, visit the one you trust.

    and yes, do update !

Most probably it would require Toyota T-IV fluid. Its different from the WS (world standard) fluid and GM Dexron 6 fluid.

Remember to install a new filter too - it would be a paper type.

Brother, i dont want to sound confusing, but it is not a matter of 'experience of driving' all the time. some times it is the 'experience of a particular car' as well. if you were driving the car before and you are driving the car now, you know the problems of the car and how it behaves more than anyone.

As i mentioned before, go to any good mechanic you trust, changing ATF is a pretty simple job. this is what xulfiqar bhai had to advice me:

ZIC XP III is formulated for hyundai, kia and mitsubishi automobiles.

If the OP wants to go for ZIC rather than toyota fluid, he can choose ZIC ATF III.
