Default Engine swap in Toyota Crown From 2JZ-GE to 1G-FE

    Asslam O Alikum!
today we started the engine swap previously it was fitted with 2JZ-GE but it was not good in fuel economy but the acceleration and performance was too much. so putting the acceleration and power at a side we decided to put some economy motor in the vehicle. so decided to swap it with the Toyota 1G-FE with ECT transmission. which was donated from the GX100 Toyota Mark 2 2001 model vehicle. folowing are some picture's of the swap. and will update later.

Mark II grande maximum gives 8 km/l that too in Islamabad driving with speeds touching 70-80km/h mark.
Crown with 2jz-ge even gives 4 km/l if driven with hard foot. It's beyond my imagination how a 2.0L 1G-FE would give 12/13km/l. That too in city driving and 17-18 km/l on long.
    Good luck with swap.
ok after the swap is compleaed I will give it a test run with your vehicle whatever is 1.3 or 2jz-ge come and compete with it honestly I will reward you if you beat it.mark 2 grande come's with the different varaiety of engine's it depend's on model.and maintanence

    Sharing one of own experience:

We were travelling from sheikhupura to Isb. We had Kia classic, 1300cc carby while our cousin had Mehran.

Filled from same CNG station and moved together all the way, maintaining 80 kph. Mehran ran out of gas 10Km before reaching the station in Kharian. Kia made it all the way to the station.

So the point is, an underpowered engine for a heavy body will consume more fuel!!!

this engine is not underpowered for this vehicle because toyota also offered this engine in it's domestic selling models'. but here the poit is the old 1G-FE were 135hp with non ECT transmission. but in case of this swap the engine is 160HP and has an ECT transmission @Xulfiqar can explain it well.

when these crowns are offered with different engines they have their own selected differentials too which change the driving torque band, The 2L diesel crowns with 94 hp are a different story because they are diesels which are all about torque.

But in this case, you are going backwards - you are installing a square engine (no torque at all) into a full option crown sedan (heaviest model) - that too known to be the silliest engines of all - feels dead even when revved. Even in its original X cressida/cresta/mark2/chaser platform was a piece of crap. There was a reason these cars were so cheap to buy compared to the 1JZ counterparts.

A much nicer option would be to swap a mercedes benz M104 in there. It is beautifully designed and overbuilt to the level of insanity. Punches real hard when you push it.
