Default Prius Installing new shocks and springs

    Hello every one

I have prius 2011, I want to change its shocks and springs to increase height (ground clearance) like my corolla Altis,

Need help in this matter, is there any genuine extra height shocks and springs available for this purpose

If yes than how and where can I find them

    Professional advise needed

    Thanks

this is a purpose built car
and everything is eventually linked/made for economy
even the brakes of this car regenerate power!(complicated crap )

why would anyone experiment and mess with such a car

since u cant weld a steel ki chadar at the bottom,
    better sell it ----
buy something cheaper---5 lacs cheaper(this would fuel the car for years to come)
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

Thanks everyone, after listening to all the advices, I'm not going to change anything in default settings of car's suspension, neither putting spacers nor oversizing the wheel

Now I need advice about best tire

Currently I'm using Yokohama blue earth 195/65r15 in prius

Need best advice about tire which brand and model to go for

My preference is comfortable tire means noise less tire

Need advice from users using on Pakistani roads
    Thanks

My uncle bought a Prius and had same problem of ground clearance,we installed the spacers in back and the problem is no more.it made the rear shocks little harder, but at least they dont have to worry about speed breakers any more.

not to rain on your "awesome achievement"

why did your uncle buy a low slung car like a prius anyway? He could have spent his money in buying an already lifted vehicle like a Hilux

The regen brake is simple - if you look at how the brake booster and master cylinder are built and dig into the service manual you will understand how it works.

It basically forces the transmission to become a generator first..

    Common,

    You not suffering alone.

    Its so simple,

Have a spacer put on top of shock, not in spring. You may need to use a longer mount bolts. All it would do is increase your car height by 1" in unloaded condition. And would add height roughly .75" when loaded. Thats all you need to cross any bumps with peace of mind.
No at front. Yes at back.

It will put a space in chassis and your shocks, thats it.

Now, it would not make your suspension any different.. Why? simply because, you are not increasing the spring tension by puttin spacer in the shocks. It won't disturb your center of gravity at all. As i got it done in my friend's prius. In my Honda. and in my Buick.

Simply don't be affraid of trying it out.

Guaranteed, suspension would nor be stiff nor be soft.

Making wheels bigger itslef is a heck. How? your speed would not be matched with of your speed meter. Your average would suck. and your pickup would be dropped considerably. Hicking power on hill would reduce. Extra load on engine. etc etc.

A simple soluotion to your simple problem.

Its like, if your bulb is fused, and you going for changing the whole charging system. Not needed !!!

And for all those, who making fun of you by suggesting hilux and stuff. Do not have a clue, hilux does not give luxury. Also they don't know in pakistan we do not have much varitie of vehicle to choose from.

Here in canada, we have atleast 24 brands and 4-6 model of each to choose from on very competitive prices with each same resale value. Hats off !!!!

So finally, don't go for tire change. will cost you atleast 40k+ with rims and tyre upgradation.

This solution woudl hardly cost you 1k.

    Chao.

    Good day.

THis is best easy, least disturbing, least altering way to fix your issue.

The problem with a cars suspension is that its actually connected by ARMS to the car - those arms move in an arc - we learnt in school that an arc is not the other brother of a line.

When a wheel moves up and down it also moves in and out and also front and back depending on if the setup is trailing arm or control arm.

Adding spacers is NOT recommended in passenger vehicles built after 1950 due to this stupid arc problem.

If I were to buy a car and know for sure that I have grave shaped speed breakers I would not buy it in the first place. The adage of "sab chalta hai" does not apply to such forums.

Brother apart from the above opinions only the front shocks and spring of Prius would cost you in six figures unless you go for junkyard stuff.

Well I was ready for something 100000 for this but couldn't find anyone who can tell me with anything preferable
I don't want to alter my car suspension that's y wanted genuine parts as Toyota Pakistan is claiming higher suspension in their Prius

    Bro,

Did you change your wheels in Prius 2011 or still using 15" wheels? I am also having the same problem. Please suggest. Thanks

I think changing tires to 205/70/r15, if this profile is available, will give you a raise of .67 inches that is more than half inch, your mileage will suffer a little only in city driving not on highway but i think it is the less complicated way of increasing car height. You can compare the tire size on Tire Size Comparison to see how much difference is there.
